News Feed Textbox resize

Hi

I am trying to change the size of the textbox in the news feed section but it doesnt work.
Here is my code

The button name is longer than "go" but it just messes in the div. The "size" or "witdh" deosnt work on the textbox.
How can I make the texbox shorter
