Icons to Nav Bar & Animated Gif to header (RESOLVED)

Looking for code or plugin (preferably code) help on 2 tasks. I've looked thru a ton of posts and found things on changing the favicon, and on default thumbnails on posts - but nothing so far on these.

1 - Navbar Icons
On the top navbar next to each Page name I'd like to add a little icon next to each name. I'm guessing I'd need perhaps modify home.php but haven't uncovered how to do it.

And it would be nice if the icon could be an active link to that same page - but I can live it the user still has to click on the actual link itself, I guess.

2 - Header animated gif
Next to the main page header, I'd like to add an animated gif. I have the gif, and I've successfully modified the default header text to my own, but not sure how to combine the 2. Would I add the animated gift in some other bit of code, say the "background" or something?

Going to dig thru the code but I'm guessing someone has already run into this? Meh-be? :P
