Default Headway user would like reasons to switch to Genesis please

Last year I used Headway 2.x to build a site and it was pretty slick. Then Headway 3 came out and things are more confusing, incomplete and some of the restrictions are driving me crazy -- for example not being able to place their "blocks" side-by-side (touching), or overlapping, or one within another. This leads to not being able to do some of the things I need to do without getting really tricky (not normal CSS coding).

So, I've got this 2.x Headway site I want moved to 3.1 now, but even after four months of Release 3.0 they do not have an upgrade path. so I've got to recode it. I spent quite a few hours last night working on it and ran into numerous problems trying to do some what should be simple things.

Don't get me wrong, I think Headway is terrific in many respects, but after leaving Thesis for Headway, due to non-communication from Chris the owner, to now finding these Headway 3 issues, including not getting any timelines from Headway on the upgrade tool and other missing items, well, I regrettably find myself wondering if I should switch frameworks (again). I had looked at Genesis in the past but back then my CSS skills were not developed enough to handle it, but I believe I'm good to go now and thinking about it again.

It's just there's such a learning curve for every new framework -- so I'd like to ask a simple question. For those of you who are familiar enough with Headway 3, I'd like to know what benefit going the Genesis route will provide me over Headway. I'm not seeking any trashing of a fine competitor's product, but just some real advantages I will have in using the Genesis framework over Headway. And I should mention the sites I develop are mostly my own, but I am starting to do work for clients now, so I need to really be able to pull off anything with a framework. (And I understand child theme concept.)

Sorry, a bit longwinded, but I thought the background might be helpful.

Note: one thing here that look great is the sheer number of users on this forum! Wow.
