Default Graphic Design For A Child Theme

Hello,
I want to create my new company website using the genesis framework. I am working with a graphic designer to create the mockups for the site, and hopefully many more. My issue is I don't exactly know where to instruct him as far as how to create the pages. I know I will obviously need an index, page, and single template, but what else should I have him design practically?

Also what should I know as far as moving forward with my own theme development, I know that I will need to do my own custom header, footer, etc....

Thanks,
Zach
