Keeping Top Banner on Index page but removing....

Hello Again!
I was wondering if its possible to keep the top banner 480X60 on the index page but comment out or remove it from the bottom on the posts? However it wouldn't mind it being there if there was a remove to place a seperate banner.
I appreciate any feedback.
