How to Remove Featured Content Gallery

I am just getting our website www.ncdr.org together. I have to work on getting the Featured Content Gallery more accessible to screen readers before we utilize it. So, I have not installed it yet. As you can see on the homepage, however, errors are on the page. How can I remove this plugin area so that the featured category blocks move up to fill that area. (I thought this was how it was when I first downloaded the theme so I am not sure what I did...)
