Custom fields/Photo question

I have tried everything, read everything I can comprehend and then some...I can not get a photo to post in my "custom field". I am using the Album theme. In the tut., the code for the photo shows that the photo is a png. file. I have tried that. I have tried re-sizing the photo. I have tried using a photo hosted at photobucket and then one hosted on my flickr account.

What am I doing wrong?! It is driving me crazy. I purchased the template several months ago now, and have yet to be able to use it. Please help and use plain English; I do not understand code.
