468x60 post banner not displayed

The 468x60 post banner is not displayed. The gif has the right size (468x60), is a gif, is in the right directory (images).

If I look at a post, the image placeholder is there, the alt-Text is there, and the link works just fine.

Why can't I see the 468x60 gif?

Any help greatly appreciated.
