I'm sitting here at 4 in the morning wondering again what I got myself into when I purchased Genesis to build my church web site (
www.midlothianfriends.org). I obviously had false expectations:
- I could use it as more or less a static web site, with some blogging capabilities
- It would not require knowledge of CSS, HTML, PHP, hooks, functions, post-back, etc. etc.
- I could do basically drag and drop to build my pages
- There would be documentation available that really explained the basics so that even a dummy like me could use it
I'm getting stuck on the basics. For example, I have a section appearing under my 3 featured pages (which is a neat function, and one of the reasons I choose the Streamline theme) that I don't understand. I want to get rid of it, but don't see how.
I installed Firefox and Firebug, and see how those tools can help, but they really require that you change code, and I don't want to have to code!
The community support has been fantastic, and I appreciate that, but I don't want to bother everyone with each question I have; I like to figure things out myself.
I would like to know if there's some way I can rescue my investment. I've read the Beginner's Guide, but it's a "here it is" type of manual with little how to actually do it, and here's what it means content.
Ready to toss in the towel! This is a last cry for help!
