Adding SEARCH BOX to sidebar in Allure theme

I maybe missing something here...but was there a SEARCH BOX showing on the default Allure theme? (not "quick serach" but a search for a user-entered text string.)

Could one be easily added to the sidebar? (and preferably not by the "add a widget" in a dynamic bar)
but adding search box by adding a few lines of code?

any help is greatly appreciated,
