Adding an Add under the Featured Content Gallery

Hello,

I wanted to know what code to use to feature an add under the Featured Content Gallery Box, Entitled "Content Rolodex".
I want the same size width of an ad directly under the "Content Rolodex" box.
I tried doing this with <div class="ad">. In firefox the ad appeared but with no grey bounding box behind it. And in Safari it did not display at all.
What is the code to apply this ad along with the dark gray bounding box behind it.
