Widget Issues In Wordpress 2.8

Is anyone else having difficulties with the widgets in 2.8? I have the corporate theme (obviously) installed at www.allgroupfinancial.com but some widgets don't work. The widgets that do work, are the ones that don't require me to enter any input but the standard text widget does not save any data that I type (yes I am pressing save before moving forward). Even the stock widget I installed asks me to enter a title, which I did, but it does not show up on the homepage because it does not save. Last issue with widgets, is there a reason I can't drop certain widgets to certain to certain areas created in this theme? It seems like sidebar areas will allow me but not the main parts of the homepage. What I have to do is drag a Text widget to the "inactive" section, then drop it to where I want, but it is still useless since I am not able to save any content. Can anyone shed some light on if they are having any of the same problems so I can troubleshoot this for a client of mine? It is much appreciated. Thanks.
