Issue with posts not working..

I have only just started working on the new theme but there is an issue with the posts. The widgets show fine but when i click on a category or archives link it says "Sorry, no posts matched your criteria" when there actually is. If i go and edit the page it shows up but once i click "view post" i get the same error. I don't have any issues with any other themes so is there something i am missing? Any help would be appreciated. I am using version 2.7..
