How do I omit pages and some catagories from search function

Hi, me again. Nearly finished and nearly ready to switch over to my agent theme site, but I was hopeing to be able to limit where the search function looks? It brings up pages which looks terrible, but also there are some categories I would love to exclude from it as well.
Any ideas?
