This website has a sidebar that I would like to have on my blog. Do you know of any plugins that have this? http://www.sonima.com/meditation/walk/
my website is yourmindfulblog.com

I think this plugin could help: https://wordpress.org/plugins/upprev/ 🙂
November 15, 2015 at 2:37 am #171141Victor FontModeratorYou don't need a plugin. The sidebars are disabled in Atmosphere Pro. If you want to enable them, you have to remove the code in functions.php that disables them. Open functions.php and remove the following code. The sidebars will return:
//* Remove sidebars unregister_sidebar( 'sidebar' ); unregister_sidebar( 'sidebar-alt' ); //* Remove site layouts genesis_unregister_layout( 'content-sidebar' ); genesis_unregister_layout( 'sidebar-content' ); genesis_unregister_layout( 'content-sidebar-sidebar' ); genesis_unregister_layout( 'sidebar-content-sidebar' ); genesis_unregister_layout( 'sidebar-sidebar-content' );
For further details, please see this article: http://victorfont.com/enable-sidebars-in-atmosphere-pro/

November 15, 2015 at 12:47 pm #171166Fabian182MemberThanks a lot for this post, Victor. I remove the code from the functions.php. Now in my widget area appears the primary and secondary sidebar...but when I place some widgets in the widget there is nothing showing up at my blog (farbentour.de/seo/gute-backlinks/) 🙁
November 15, 2015 at 12:52 pm #171167brockMemberTry either deleting or commenting out this line:
//* Force full-width-content layout setting add_filter( 'genesis_site_layout', '__genesis_return_full_width_content' );
The widgets should then show up at the bottom of your post, so you'll need to add some extra css.
November 15, 2015 at 4:16 pm #171217Victor FontModeratorYou may be better off moving the force full-width content code to front-page.php so your home page stays full width.

Have you requested your free website audit yet?November 16, 2015 at 5:51 am #171245brockMemberYes good point Victor. Sorry I forgot about that. What I did was leave it in the functions.php and wrap it in an if condition to show a sidebar only on single posts. Here it is:
add_action( 'get_header', 'bc_single_post_sidebar' ); function bc_single_post_sidebar() { if ( !is_single() ) { //* Force full-width-content layout setting add_filter( 'genesis_site_layout', '__genesis_return_full_width_content' ); } }
This way, your archive pages won't have a sidebar - only your posts pages. Of course, if you want archives to have a sidebar as well then do as Victor suggested and move the force full-width code into the front-page.php file.
Note: this only gives you the basic default sidebars that come with genesis (which you will need to style with CSS). It won't have the slide-out or read-next functionality which you may be looking for.
