I'm a newbie & know nothing about writing code, so I apologize on the front-end for my very basic questions. I have been scouring the web to find a fix for my problem, but so far have been either unsuccessful or completely clueless about the answers I've found. Any help would be sooo appreciated!
I'm trying to set up my blog & purchased/downloaded Genesis & the Amplify child theme using the tutorial. Unfortunately, the part about not actually activating Genesis & instead activating the child theme was at the bottom, so can't do that now. Genesis is activated & working, but Amplify will not. I cannot delete the theme because it's not completely installed, & it will not upload a new copy because it says it already exists. UGH!
This is the message displayed:
Broken Themes
The following themes are installed but incomplete. Themes must have a stylesheet and a template.Name Description
Amplify Theme The parent theme is missing. Please install the "genesis" parent theme.PLEASE HELP.... I'm completely out of my element!

September 7, 2014 at 6:36 pm #123240AnitaKeymasterYou need the Genesis Framework installed before you can install the Amplify Child Theme. It says it in small print here - http://restored316designs.com/product/amplify-theme/ above the Add to Cart. There is a link. Purchase that, install it and then you can install Amplify.

September 7, 2014 at 8:11 pm #123264CharissernMemberI have Genesis Framework installed, I did that first & it is activated. When I installed Amplify I got the message I posted earlier.
September 7, 2014 at 8:26 pm #123265AnitaKeymasterOh, you don't activate the Genesis Framework, you only install it. Go to Appearance > Themes. Select the default WordPress theme so that Genesis is not activated. Then install Amplify.

September 7, 2014 at 8:42 pm #123269CharissernMemberI tried to do that, but it won't let me. It says that it's installed but incomplete, therefore there is no "activate" button. I can't figure out any way to delete it & I've tried to upload the Amplify theme again, but it tells me the file already exists. I tried to explain all that in my initial post, but I guess I wasn't very clear.... I'm sorry.
September 7, 2014 at 8:50 pm #123271AnitaKeymasterThat's a third-party theme. You should contact the theme developer (Lauren) on her website - http://restored316designs.com/. She provides support for her own themes over there.

September 7, 2014 at 9:09 pm #123275CharissernMemberThank you very much! She actually emailed me about it as well, so hopefully we can get it resolved. I'm thinking now it may have been better just to pay someone who knows what they're doing to create my website, : ))!
September 7, 2014 at 9:34 pm #123280AnitaKeymasterIf you need assistance, let me know. I used to provide support for her. I am very familiar with that theme. Just reach out to me on my website.
