Hi Guys,
I am currently using the Metro theme and have figured out most things I am wanting to do to the site aesthetically. However, I am having trouble finding out how to change the site title to my logo (currently 1037 x 384 but this could be amended).
Does anybody know how to explain, to an idiot when it comes to these things, how to get the logo on without having it as 'header image' but as a direct replacement to the red and white site title please?
Your help really would be very much appreciated.
Adam
The site I am referring to is http://www.thepuckburger.com.

1. Determine the exact pixel dimensions of your graphic logo. Say it is 385 wide by 100 tall.
2. Add this to end of functions.php of your theme:
add_theme_support( 'genesis-custom-header', array('width' => 385,
'height' => 100
) );
3. Go to Appearance, Header and choose logo file to upload .
4. Uncheck the "Show text" box at bottom.
That should do it.

Thanks for getting back to me on this.
Unfortunately when I follow your guidance it is blank on both desktop and mobile. Could that be something to do with it's dimensions of 1037 x 384?

add_theme_support( ‘genesis-custom-header’, array(‘width’ => 1037, ‘height’ => 384 ) );
When you selected the the graphic on the theme Header page, did it show up in the preview box?
May 10, 2013 at 5:58 am #40262jaquespollardMemberSorry for the delay in replying, I've only just seen you had got back to me.
I did and it did also show in the preview pane but then nothing when I look on the actual homepage.
I have seen other people have trouble with this too, would it be easier to have it as a 'coded logo' rather than a header (if that lay expanation makes any sense)?

What is the name of the logo file? Using Chrome "inspect" utility I don't see anything in your Resources file that looks like a logo. I do see this: http://www.thepuckburger.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/background5.jpg .
What is the name of the logo file and is it in Media Library?
May 10, 2013 at 10:16 am #40306jaquespollardMemberI have two which can be found here...
http://www.thepuckburger.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=1396&action=edit named as thepuckburger_banner.gif &
http://www.thepuckburger.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=1395&action=edit known as tPB.gif
May 10, 2013 at 10:29 am #40315devParticipantI don't know what you are are telling me... those are links to your admin area.
I don't see thepuckburger_banner.gif or tPB.gif anywhere in your Media Lib. Look in your Media Lib. Are they there? What is the link to them?
Also, I don't even know if you can use a .gif file in the header... I've always used .jpg or .png files. Maybe THAT is the problem?
But if the logo/header image shows up in the Appearance/Header screen, then it should get imported into the child theme.
Maybe you have some other plugin that is conflicting with it?
Without being able to log in to the site, there is not much anyone here can probably do for you... but then again there are a lot of people who know far more than I do.

Thanks again.

I think you'll find this to be helpful in getting a logo to work: http://blackhillswebworks.com/2013/05/10/how-to-replace-the-studiopress-background-header-image-with-a-real-image-logo/

One faction believes you should (always) defer to the "WordPress Way" meaning the Appearance/Header method. In Gen-land it means you have to add code specifying the exact dimensions of your logo in functions.php as noted above.
The other faction says that logo/header is/should be a "theme/framework function" and these methods are divorced from the WP.... using the logo.png method by taking out any "support for WP header" code that might be there and perhaps adding code like from the article above.
I'll be curious as to what (if anything) Gen 2.0 will have for us with respect to this issue.

Thanks for your input I'll have a go at that method now, much appreciated.
