I am trying to install a forum on my site just like this one, which uses the bbPress plugin. Getting it installed is easy enough, but it looks pretty terrible. Can anyone tell me how to adjust the styles so that they better match Genesis? There are some less-than-clear instructions on the bbPress site about copying some css from the bbPress folder and pasting it "into your theme" or in another area "into your theme's "css" folder." Their example is http://yoursite/wp-content/themes/yourtheme/css or similar. Of course there is no such folder in Genesis.
Anyway, can anyone suggest what to do in order to style a bbPress forum?
Thanks.
Ken

/plugins/bbpress/templates/default/css/bbpress.css
the easiest way is to edit it directly , but then if they updated the plugin you need to keep a copy of this stylesheet and replace the new one when it happens.

August 16, 2013 at 3:11 pm #56904AnitaKeymaster@sundance, I was going to recommend he use the Genesis Layout Extras which includes bbPress formatting. Did you use that on your website?

August 16, 2013 at 3:17 pm #56909AnitaKeymasterThanks. I remember you like to "hard code" snippets into your websites.

August 16, 2013 at 3:29 pm #56915sundanceParticipantPleasure , by the way I do need some help I hope I'm jumping but its related bbpress and he maybe find it useful.
as you see from my site I created new page template and new sidebar for the forum , everything works but if I use the search then the results page will show the original sidebar.
this is what I have in my functions.phpif ( is_page_template( 'forum_page.php' ) || is_singular('forums') ||is_singular('forum') ||is_singular('topic') ||is_singular('topics') ||is_singular('users') )
I need to add the search page I tried many ways but no success.

August 17, 2013 at 10:01 am #57046KenTheriotMemberI tried editing bbpress.css and was able to make some changes. So thanks for that advice, sundance. Anitac, I installed Genesis Layout Extras (I already had installed bbPress Genesis Extend - though I am not certain how to know if it did anything or not). But it doesn't allow any actual style editing does it? I guess that isn't surprising considering it's all about "Layout" and not style.
It is very cumbersome to try and use Firebug to identify each element and then do trial and error. Based on the above link where bbPress talks about how to copy bbpress files into a theme, is it at all clear how to do that with Genesis (I use Eleven40-Pro)?
Thanks!
Ken
