It would be really useful to be able to sort slides by menu_order. The "page" post-type has that built in, and there are plugins to add menu order to the "post" post-type, so it seems like a viable feature. We use a custom post type just for slides and we have to explain to our clients that they have to rearrange the publish dates of the slides to re-order them, which is kind of a pain. It would be nice if they could just adjust the built in menu order and Genesis Responsive Slider could use that.

Have you tried this? It's my favorite way of dealing with that sort of problem. Drop and drop wonderfulness. Last I looked, the only quirk was that you need to click "Save" after shuffling things around.

Great suggestion. The I had seen seemed to merely add a menu_order, which did no good for date sorting... I installed this one and it seems to do the trick, when combined with Genesis Responsive Slider. Thanks!

It appears to force all queries to menu_order, which isn't good if you want your blog feed to remain sorted by date. It has the ability to "Hide" the sort feature for each post type, however it's not clear if that means it doesn't use menu_order for those queries... or just hides the ability to re-order them. In any case I tested just hiding the feature for posts, and date order appears to be preserved. Whether it's because the query falls back to date if no menu_order is present, or because they don't override the default query order I can't say... but as long as you don't set a menu_order.. it seems to be safe fix. Though... I'd rather just see Genesis Responsive Slider include a sort option for menu_order....

There are a variety of other such plugins, for instance some will only do Custom Post Types, others do Pages, and so on. Something for everybody. ๐
Friends don't let friends set dates on each Post if they can help it! ๐
Cheers, Dave
