I know this isn't a forum for GA, but I have a site that I've done some design work for (http://mrsthreeinthree.com/) that is having huge tracking issues. It's been having GA tracking issues since moving to WordPress. The site is using the Foodie Theme. We've used the Chrome Extension GA debugger tool to try and figure out what was going on. Literally, deleted all adsense ads (which were causing errors) and deleted the GA tracking code. Installed a new tracking code (new GA account, but still on previous email address as the other code). There seems to be Disqus still stuck on the site that is showing up in the GA code still somehow (it was removed through the uninstall method in the plugins). Tried using a tutorial to remove the leftover disqus stuff but not having much luck with that either. Anyone have any suggestions to get GA working properly??
The tracking beacon does not have the same things as my own personal site. This is the code that is showing up in the Chrome Extension GA debugging tool:

The one I see when I reveal your code is UA-53407940-1 which is the same thing at the end of that link. They aren't different.

August 3, 2014 at 5:07 pm #116878skichic95MemberThat is the new tracking code. It's the one that is installed now. The old tracking code is UA-34071924-1
August 3, 2014 at 5:17 pm #116880AnitaKeymasterBut the code you are trying to get rid of - has the new code at the end of it. So some how that "old" link is picking up the "new" GA tracking code.

August 3, 2014 at 5:40 pm #116883skichic95MemberThis is so far out of my knowledge base that I'm not sure how to proceed with your last comment. Are you saying that code I pasted above is still got some of the old stuff in it even though there is a new tracking code installed?
Here it is now (just copied what came up in that tool):
v=1&_v=j23d&a=99062226&t=pageview&_s=1&dl=http%3A%2F%2Fmrsthreeinthree.com%2F&ul=en-us&de=UTF-8&dt=Three%20in%20Three%20-%20Plus%20One!&sd=24-bit&sr=1366x768&vp=1349x343&je=1&fl=14.0%20r0&_utma=250634842.628524098.1405640327.1407104518.1407108443.66&_utmz=250634842.1406592361.41.5.utmcsr%3Dredirect.disqus.com%7Cutmccn%3D(referral)%7Cutmcmd%3Dreferral%7Cutmcct%3D%2Furl&_utmht=1407109099158&_u=MCCCAEQ~&cid=628524098.1405640327&tid=UA-53407940-1&z=1209814037I know that even with the new GA tracking code installed, GA is still not tracking correctly. And I'm not sure what to fix to get it to work. Or where to go...
August 3, 2014 at 6:00 pm #116892AnitaKeymasterLook at the code you just pasted. The second to the last line - at the end - see your NEW code toward the end of the line ??? "UA-53407940-1" - it's in that link. So it cannot be an "old link" if it's picking up your new code. You said you moved to WordPress. Where did you move from?

August 3, 2014 at 6:21 pm #116893skichic95MemberThe site was moved over from Blogger. I did not do the transfer for my friend, just some design elements for her.
The code I pasted is the error that is occurring according to that Chrome Extension debugger tool. The "old" code is no where on the site. The "new" code, what you are seeing in that long line of code is what is there. I can see her new GA code sitting in there.
I'm not concerned with that part. My concern is that GA is not tracking properly. It hasn't been tracking properly since the WP transfer done by this other girl. In an effort to try and figure out what might be the cause, I had the owner remove all Adsense ads, remove her SnapWidget, remove AddThis, she tried removing the remaining Disqus stuff that didn't get removed through the Plugin removal method and she removed the old GA code. I had the owner of the site create a new tracking code within GA to see if maybe a new code would somehow "reset" the system and start tracking properly. But so far no luck. The "new" GA code has only been installed for about 24 hours but even when the owner looks at the Real-Time tracking, it doesn't pick up or track everyone that is on her site (we have a tribe of about 10 bloggers and we all got on her site to see if it would pick us up. It picked up about 50% of us).
She's contacted her host to see if he knew how to fix it and he claimed he did something that would work (on the old code..prior to her deleting all the above mentioned items), but there was no change. GA still would not work. It seems as if there is something working against the GA code. I have no idea what it is.August 3, 2014 at 6:56 pm #116901AnitaKeymasterDid you do the verification again? Did you add the html link to the root folder of your new WordPress website?

August 3, 2014 at 7:06 pm #116902skichic95MemberWhat is exactly is the root folder? Is that what it is called? Where do I tell her to install it? She's currently got the script code received from GA site installed in the Header section in the Genesis theme settings. Is there another spot she needs to add it?
August 3, 2014 at 7:10 pm #116903skichic95MemberI just asked her about the verification and GA is telling her that her code is not installed.
August 3, 2014 at 7:51 pm #116914AnitaKeymasterHave her install this plugin and follow the directions - https://wordpress.org/plugins/google-analytics-for-wordpress/.

August 3, 2014 at 8:19 pm #116917skichic95MemberAwesome! I think that fixed it. It's finally saying the tracking beacon was sent. Fingers crossed that her tracking starts legit working.
Thanks so much for your help Anita!! You've helped me before on my own site and I was so glad to see you respond to my question!!
