It is so annoying to receive 50 emails a day because I'm linking pages within the site. I have the PINGBACKS and comments UNchecked - but still receive emails each time I add a link. Help! I want them off!
THANKS!!!
http://www.bluemarblexpress.comSeptember 4, 2014 at 6:58 pm #122840AnitaKeymasterDid you turn them off Globally? Go to Genesis > Theme Settings and make sure the box is not checked. If it was ever enabled and you started blogging and now you want it turned off. You will need to manually disable them on previously published posts. If you need to do that, let me know and I'll give you instructions on how to do it really quick.

September 6, 2014 at 7:47 pm #123100MealtogMemberWhat about for Pages? One site is getting too many trackbacks from internal page linking and it's driving me nuts. Any ideas?
September 6, 2014 at 7:53 pm #123102AnitaKeymasterFollow the same instructions I posted on my site, except - go to Pages and not Posts and do the same steps.

September 7, 2014 at 3:32 am #123119MealtogMemberWhen inside Posts, I see the place to edit pingbacks. When in Pages, there is no such option. Any ideas?
September 7, 2014 at 6:34 am #123129Genesis DeveloperMemberClick on "screen options" at top right side of header and enabled the discussion checkbox.then it'll appear at page.
September 8, 2014 at 12:08 am #123292MealtogMemberI have tried this in 2 WP sites. There is no option to change pingbacks for Pages. Only in Posts using the above bulk method. Anyone else see this too?
September 8, 2014 at 12:47 am #123297Genesis DeveloperMemberAre you not getting this? See the ss
September 8, 2014 at 5:48 am #123338AnitaKeymasterI just walked back through the steps and I don't see pingbacks on the pages anymore. I activated it under Genesis > Settings also and then re-walked the steps and only Comments shows up. So this must be something that was removed.
Go to Settings > Discussions. Look to see if the second line is checked that says "Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks) ." If so, uncheck that and then add an internal link to a page. See if it still sends you the notification.

September 9, 2014 at 12:45 am #123520MealtogMemberThanks for looking into this Anita. Unfortunately, Settings >> Discussion >> Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks) is not selected. And a truck load of these approvals came into comments today from internal linking. It's getting annoying. How else can I disable this?
September 9, 2014 at 3:44 am #123539Brad DaltonParticipantSeptember 9, 2014 at 4:20 am #123541MealtogMemberThanks as always Brad. Can you tell me when that tutorial was written? It links to an out-dated plugin. I just cannot believe WP needs code to disable pingbacks these days?
September 9, 2014 at 5:23 am #123544Brad DaltonParticipantThe code works as i used it on my site now so that is the best solution i have found. Its an old post which i updated recently but didn't re-test the plugin which is why i suggest trying the code.
September 9, 2014 at 5:40 am #123546AnitaKeymasterThanks' Brad, I am going to modify my post to reflect this and point those looking for internal/self pingbacks to your post.

September 9, 2014 at 8:31 pm #123678MealtogMemberThanks. I will have to try this.
Can I clarify that this will stop all those annoying internal trackback comments that we have to approve for Pages? Will it stop trackbacks and pingbacks for posts as well?
