I Installed "wordpress database backup plugin" about 2 yr ago on my site. But I recently discover that it does not exist anymore wp database. What should I do? Should I remove it?
April 20, 2013 at 7:21 pm #36632Brad DaltonParticipantYou mean its no longer hosted in the official WordPress plugin repository?
Then you should consider deleting it and finding other.
April 21, 2013 at 3:15 am #36659GordyMember@ braddalton. Thanks for replying. Yes, it is no longer found in the official wp plugin repository.
1. Could you please confirm, may be I didn't check very well.
The plugin is "wordpress database backup" by Austin Matzko
2. And do you have an idea to an alternative?
I want to consider "BackUpWordPress" by Human Made Limited
Thanks.

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/backupwordpress/
April 22, 2013 at 2:09 pm #36948GordyMemberThanks. You said that you use : phpMyAdmin Export function
1. How can I find this? Is it by going to Dashboard>Tools>Export ?
2. And if I use this, will it back up everything necessary that the plugin will do?
April 22, 2013 at 8:04 pm #37039Brad DaltonParticipant1. Gop to cPanel > Databases > phpMy Admin and login.
Find the database you want to export and click the db name in the left hand side then export the db by clicking the GO button.
2. It will do exactly the same as the plugin
You could also use the export tool in WordPress but this will only backup your content and not plugin settings etc.
April 24, 2013 at 4:31 pm #37475GordyMemberyou said "You could also use the export tool in WordPress but this will only backup your content and not plugin settings etc."
1. What do you mean by only backup your content? Do you mean only my post and pages?
2. Also when I checked "Simple Twitter Connect" plugin on the WordPress plugin repository, I couldn't find it when I used the "search plugin search box" but, I did find it in the "search wodpress .org" Should I delette this plugin from my plugin list?
April 24, 2013 at 10:52 pm #37524Brad DaltonParticipantApril 25, 2013 at 1:49 am #37553GordyMember1. I am a non-techie guy, please is there any difference in "backingup files" and "backing up only content" (post and pages) ?
2. I want to consider deletting it because I expect to see the plugin in "WordPress plugin repository" but, it was not found. And eventhough I still manage to find the name via wordpress.org, it takes me to this link http://wordpress.org/support/plugin/simple-twitter-connect which when I clicked on the download page, it says the page cannot be found. So, I am confused if the plugin is still being maintaned, otherwise so that I can delette it from my plugin list.
I would appreciate it if you could click on the link to see what I am trying to explain.

Files include your theme, plugins, uploads (images)
Your database includes all your content like posts, pages etc.
The Twitter plugin is excellent and still maintained. The author works for Matt Mullenweg.
April 25, 2013 at 10:04 am #37667GordyMemberThanks. I now understand.
I would also want to know if both "Google Analyticator" that I had been using and "Site Stat" in jetpack by wordpress which I recently installed have same function.
If so, wouldn't it be a good idea to delette the Google Analyticator?
April 25, 2013 at 10:46 am #37675Brad DaltonParticipantSite stats is very basic.
Google Analytics is the best but you may not use it so delete it.

I have a related security question. When I see a comment that looks like a spam. Should I click, "spam" button or the "trash" button?
If I am not 100% that a comment is a spam or not. Is there a security risk if I approve the comment?
And would you recommend that I install wordfencesecurity plugin?
April 27, 2013 at 10:32 pm #38158Brad DaltonParticipantRead the comment and see if it adds value to your content.
Here's a post about reducing spam http://wpsites.net/blogging/stop-comment-spam/
Please ask unrelated questions in a new thread. Thanks
