I've searched and have not found a definitive answer to my question:
Is it possible to have 2 blogs on 1 site? If so, how do I make it happen?
Thanks!

Maybe it would be helpful for you to explain why you would want 2 blogs on 1 site? That would help us give you the most feasible answer to your question. 🙂

I want to have a blog for youth leaders/parents, and for teens.
Thanks for asking!
April 12, 2014 at 11:31 am #99814Lauren @ OnceCoupledMemberWhy don't you just create a category for each, and link to them from your menu, like so?
http://justingentry.org/category/adults/
http://justingentry.org/category/teens/

April 12, 2014 at 11:46 am #99818jgentryParticipantGood question.
When I create a post, which blog would it post to?
April 12, 2014 at 11:52 am #99820Lauren @ OnceCoupledMemberYou only have one blog, located at http://justingentry.org/, correct?
You'd create a post from your Dashboard and choose "Adults" or "Teens" for the category. They'll both be on the same blog, but you can link to them individually, in order to direct people to the content that is suited for their needs.
Here's an article on categories vs. tags: https://managewp.com/wordpress-categories-tags-seo
Either of these can be linked to directly, and used to filter your posts.

April 12, 2014 at 12:01 pm #99823jgentryParticipantI see.
So they would bot be visible in the same stream then. Right?
April 12, 2014 at 12:10 pm #99827Genesis DeveloperMemberIf you publish a post under two categories (youth leaders/parents and teens), only that time this post will display on both category listing page.
April 12, 2014 at 12:13 pm #99828jgentryParticipantGotcha.
I'll give it a whirl and let you know how it goes.
Thanks "Oncecoupled," glad you've joined us.
Thanks to you too "genwrock"!
April 12, 2014 at 12:16 pm #99830Lauren @ OnceCoupledMemberAs a note, both categories will show up on your current blog page. Only if you change to two links, http://justingentry.org/category/adults/ and http://justingentry.org/category/teens/, will you successfully keep posts completely separate.
Happy to help!
Best,
Lauren

April 12, 2014 at 1:36 pm #99841jgentryParticipantokay, here's what I did:
I created the two categories and two menu links and I posted a test post. I selected both categories for the test post and I don't see it either place.
What did I miss?
(Hope I'm being clear!)
April 12, 2014 at 1:38 pm #99842Lauren @ OnceCoupledMemberYou link isn't correct, that's all. 🙂 You're using the word "categories". Click on the links I have above and you'll see your post in both places.

April 12, 2014 at 1:46 pm #99843jgentryParticipantEasy as pie. Thanks!
One more question:
Can I remove "category" from the url's? Not a big deal, just wonderin'
April 12, 2014 at 1:55 pm #99844Lauren @ OnceCoupledMemberNope, they cannot be removed altogether: http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks#Category_base_and_Tag_base
You could create two pages and only query posts from each category into them, however. I'd do this using page templates, but I'm sure there's a plugin out there, too.

I'm stepping away for now, but I'll post my success a little later.
Thanks again Lauren! You're very helpful!

April 13, 2014 at 12:19 pm #100069Andrea RennickMemberMultisite allows you to have multiple blogs in one install, but they are separate sites. Probably overkill for just two.
It gives two login areas.
