So, the help desk won't help me with this issue. They tell me to reach out to JetPack. However, I've said repeatedly that I think the issue is with how I have my site set up. I've never used a widgetized home page before and I don't think I did it right.
Here's the situation. My live site is: cliobethany.org. However, I have a test site set up at elizabethwhiting.me.
Based on feedback from the help desk, I disabled all plugins on ElizabethWhiting.me except for JetPack which produces the social sharing icons. You can see that the social sharing icons are working on posts and on other content types. However, I have my blog feed at elizabethwhiting.me/blog and the social sharing icons WILL NOT work on this page. If you click on one of the posts and drill into it, it is fine.
I feel like I am missing something basic in my setup that is creating this issue.
Under Settings > Sharing, I have boxes checked for:
Front Page, Archive Pages, and Search Results
Posts
Media
Podcast
Events
Under Settings > ReadingI have the box checked for Front Page displays Your Latest Posts
When I set up the Outreach theme, once I added widgets, the home page
became automatically widgetized and I honestly don't know exactly how this
Blog page got created, but it's pretty awesome that it works. If only I
could get these sharing buttons working though. The help desk at StudioPress says that since the JetPack plugin is the problem, that my only option is to reach out to JetPack and report this bug.
My other archive pages ARE displaying the icons though, like here: http://elizabethwhiting.me/category/youth/sunday-school/
It is ONLY this page where they don't work: elizabethwhiting.me/blog This tells me it is something with how I have this setup with a widgetized home page. But, alas, no support from StudioPress. I'm hoping the community can help me.

Jetpack support is generally the best place to get support for Jetpack.
September 25, 2015 at 9:29 am #166658lizleighgrossMemberThis link seems to show how to move them. I'm happy with their position, they just aren't working. I'll try reaching out to JetPack for support. Thanks for that tip. I'm not sure how to go about it, but I'll see what I can find.
September 25, 2015 at 9:34 am #166659lizleighgrossMemberI sent a message through to JetPack support, but I really think it is something wrong with the way I have this widgetized home page done through Genesis / Outreach Pro. The icons ARE working on all other archive pages. However, they are only not working on this blog page.
September 25, 2015 at 10:02 am #166662Brad DaltonParticipantBecause the home page contains widgets so you would need to add them manually.
By default, they can only be displayed on single posts, pages and archives, not static pages with widgets unless the sharing function is built into the widget, which isn't the case. You may find a plugin which includes a widget of you don't want to use code.
September 25, 2015 at 10:44 am #166666lizleighgrossMemberI don't want them displayed on the home page. I just want them to work on this page: http://elizabethwhiting.me/blog
This is the output of all the posts basically. I wish they would work here the same way they do here: http://elizabethwhiting.me/category/youth/sunday-school/
I am not clear on how the page: http://elizabethwhiting.me/blog got created by Outreach Pro. So, I'm not clear on how to fix this.
September 25, 2015 at 1:05 pm #166673lizleighgrossMemberI figured it out and it was completely my setup under Settings Reading.
I'm posting the answer here in case others have this question.
When you are using a widgetized home page, even though as soon as you install the theme, it just works, and that's neat, your "Posts" page won't allow the Social sharing icons to display/work properly unless you have this setup.
You should create pages (no content needed) for "Home" and "Blog"
Then, under Settings > Reading, it should be setup like this:
Front page displays
A static page (select below)
Front page: Choose "Home"
Posts page: Choose "Blog"Now, once this is properly configured, your social sharing icons will be visible on your Blog page and they will work.
Hopefully this helps someone else.
