A while back people were talking about the Replicator plugin...but not so sure that is still a good plugin to use for duplicate a site in Multisite. Can I please have some feedback if this is a reliable and good plugin to use for duplication? I need to get the widget areas duplicated for a new site... of course could do that manually but prefer not to.
Thanks!

It will create an exact copy of the original site.
I do this all the time for my multisites.

March 15, 2013 at 10:46 pm #27319computerkittenMemberThanks for writing! So I can take a Subsite (not the main site).... and create a template to say everything I want in it duplicated (which would be all) in order to create a new Subsite? Little confused.... I did take a look at the page.
Thanks!

The reason I use the one from premium wpmu is that they guarantee their plugins all play nicely together - and as I run 3 rather large multisites I can't risk having a plugin stuff everything up for my clients.
So to answer your question - yes it will do a complete clone of a sub site.
I have a site completely setup with plugins, widgets, themes etc and that is my business default theme.
Then before I create a new client site I tweak the default site and make sure it looks right, so as soon as the client gets the auto email that their site is created their new site is pretty much ready to go.
I also use a plugin to save my widgets - so when I activate a new theme I can restore the default widgets for that site - so i don't have to manually create them every time.

March 16, 2013 at 8:52 am #27894computerkittenMemberOkay so what happens if the site you want the template based from has already been created? Can the new template be created after the site you want duplicated has already been setup? I'm reading through their information for this plugin...
Or do you have to first create the template (it would be empty at that point), then create your new subsite with everything you want in it), and then copy all the widgets and info for future sites into the template?
Thanks for clarifying!

You can use any site - an existing one or a brand new one - it really doesn't matter either way.
I've actually got a couple of demo sub-sites that I can use.
cheers
