I am using <!--nextpage--> to break up pages on a post I am writing. I would like to have the page-links show near the top of the post as well. I have seen in other forums that I should be able to move the wp_link_pages function in the theme files, but I can't seem to find it in the News Pro files.
I am also using the Page-Links Plus plug-in if that makes a difference.
Just to be clear, I don't want to change the look, I just want to move it.
The post is being written so I don't have a link to it but my site is SummerCampProgramDirector.com
Thanks for any help.

The plugin may include a function or short code which you can remove and add to another hook position which executes before the content.
Hard to test without a copy of the plugin however you may be able to use wp_link_pages in a custom function https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wp_link_pages
June 1, 2015 at 11:33 am #154410MooseMemberThanks for the response. Your linked page shows how to do what the plug-in is doing, which is formatting the look. My question is how do I move the page-links to the top of the post.
I visited the plug-in forum and the question was asked there as well by someone else. The response was that it need to be done in the theme files. The plug-in has nothing to do with the placement of the pagination.
So, taking the plug-in a way from this scenario, which I will do if it helps me, how do I move the links?
I think it needs to be done in the single.php file but I cannot seem to find that in the NewsPro theme. Where would it be located?

June 1, 2015 at 1:03 pm #154425MooseMemberI've looked all over Google. The solutions seem to be beyond my coding capabilities. I think I'll just hire someone to do it on Elance or Fiverr. Thanks anyways.

June 2, 2015 at 11:32 am #154570MooseMemberHi Brad, I appreciate the link, and yes, it is exactly what I need, but paying someone $10 on Fiverr to do it as opposed to paying $47 to view your solution seems like a no-brainer to me. I paid less for a whole child theme. As I looked around this forum I saw that you offer a lot of solutions for people but they need to pay to view them. It's unfortunate that this forum has become a pay-per-view help desk. It certainly didn't use to be that way.
June 2, 2015 at 2:10 pm #154601Brad DaltonParticipantTo clarify, self promotion is acceptable on these forums under certain circumstances. If you have a solution which solves a problem someone needs help with, you can promote your product or service like a theme, plugin, membership site and tutorials which all require payment.
To answer your comment "you offer a lot of solutions for people but they need to pay to view them". This is only true when i have a solution which is behind a paywall. 99% of the answers i provide here are for free and nearly 10,000 of the solutions i provided between 1st Jan 2013 and 1st Jan 2015 where 100% free.
Also, there are different types of solutions you can consider:
1. Free solutions which you can find using Google
2. Free solutions you can work out yourself
3. Free solutions generous people provide on forums like this
4. Cheap solutions like what you get from Fiverr for 10 bucks
5. Affordable solutions like what wpsites.net offers where $47 gives you 1 months full PHP support for 3,000+ code snippets and 1650 tutorials, ( Won't get that for 10 bucks on Fiverr )
6. Hourly consulting where you can generally pay between $50 to $200 an hour for a Genesis consultant. The Average being about $80 an hour.Participants, including myself, need to accept that others will drop links to solutions which aren't always free. Please don't take it personally, promotion is part of a win win healthy ecosystem and some people don't mind paying sometimes.
If you find it offensive when someone links to a product or service which isn't free, please state that when you ask your next question that you only want free solutions.
"It’s unfortunate that this forum has become a pay-per-view help desk".
I don't think it has but you will find different people linking to their premium plugins, premium themes, membership sites and other non free solutions once in a blue moon. And in my opinion, the people who link to their products are generally the ones who have volunteered a heap of free solutions so they deserve a bit of self promotion.
June 2, 2015 at 6:43 pm #154621MooseMemberBrad, I don't take offense to you offering a solution for a fee. Quite the contrary. I find it very enterprising. As I looked around the forum I would say about half of the FINAL solutions you offered were behind a paywall. 99% may be free solutions but that is not what I saw. Again, I am okay with that, but it would be nice if there were others to help out as well. You were the only one trying to offer assistance. Of course there is a motive behind that, but I appreciate it none the less.
I also would have paid you a lesser amount (say $5) for just the answer and not a whole month of PHP code access that I don't need and won't use. That may be something you could look into offering to increase sales.
What I am saddened about is the lack of appointed administrators not chiming in to current discussions. When I purchased the Genesis theme and multiple child themes it used to be that there were multiple moderators in the forum that would help out. It seems that has mostly disappeared. I rarely need assistance because Studiopress either has a tutorial or I can find it on Google. Also, one never had to say they only wanted "free solutions" when asking a question. That is new to me.
Thank you for outlining all the possible solutions. I am sure that will be useful for others who come across this post.
Again, I have no problem with self promotion, but a reasonable price for solutions and moderators of a forum for a paid product, would be nice.
June 2, 2015 at 10:26 pm #154655Brad DaltonParticipantJune 2, 2015 at 10:40 pm #154658SusanModeratorand moderators of a forum for a paid product, would be nice.
Was someone looking for a moderator? 🙂
This is a community forum, offered as a free service by StudioPress; yes, their product is a paid product, but this isn't their "official" support - this is a forum provided for the StudioPress community to allow their users to help each other with those questions which don't come under their support "umbrella"; questions related to customization, or the use of third party plugins.
In terms of offering services, it's within the rights of members here to offer their paid services; I'd rather pay $47 to a valued member of the community to gain access to thousands of tutorials than $5 to a stranger online, and given them access to my site. But, hey, that's just me 🙂
I'm a moderator, but I'm just a volunteer; I don't work for, or speak on behalf of StudioPress. Just for the community of volunteers around here.
June 2, 2015 at 11:09 pm #154661MooseMemberYour welcome, Brad, and again, thanks for your initial assistance.
Susan, yes, it is just you. How are members supposed to know who is and who isn't a "valued" member. Your argument is ridiculous. Brad even said there are a lot of people on here offering paid services. Should I assume that everyone in this forum is trust worthy? I am a little leery of blindly trusting people, but hey, maybe that's just me. At least on Fiverr or Elance there are rating systems when looking for assistance.
Brad and I had this covered. I NEVER said it wasn't within the rights of members to offer their paid services. There was no need for you to chime in unless you had a solution to offer me for the question I asked. I am amazed that you only pop up when someone has something negative to say about this forum. I'm sure that is not part of your volunteer duties. 🙂
June 2, 2015 at 11:20 pm #154664Brad DaltonParticipantFair question about who you can trust and who you can't.
As another solution, you might find a free plugin which does exactly what you want. There's over 35,000 hosted on WordPress.org servers and many more on Github. Might take some time to find one and test it but thats another solution which may interest you and its 100% free.
As far as trust goes, i ask members to either send me a copy of their theme so i can code it in, or FTP details so i can download their theme myself.
Another option i can offer is to code the solution into a fresh copy of the theme. This way its tested on the same theme as the member is using without needing access or a copy of their modifications.
I'm also happy to make a short video explaining what i've done and post it on my YouTube Channel.
June 2, 2015 at 11:36 pm #154665Brad DaltonParticipantTry this https://wordpress.org/plugins/auto-more-tag/faq/
It does say it offers options for placement of the more tag.
June 2, 2015 at 11:41 pm #154666MooseMemberWow, thanks Brad. It's helpful to know how you work. I am always hesitant to give specific information to programmers I hire for certain projects. I don't usually do that. Instead I'll spend hours online trying to find a solution and do it myself (hence the reason I come here once every year or two) instead of just paying a pro to do it. The few times I have had to hire someone I have been lucky (knock on wood), but this has certainly got me thinking about the security of my sites and how I can hire someone without giving up total access. I will keep your info on hand. I really appreciate the insight.
It would be great if there was some sort of rating system on here when someone is looking to hire a designer or programmer, but I know that doesn't work with a forum like this.
June 3, 2015 at 12:00 am #154668MooseMemberThanks, Brad, but I hired someone yesterday to do the work. No need to spend any more time with me on this. Appreciate it though.
