Hello
I'm not sure if I am in the right place to be asking this. I have currently built my own website using a very popular themeforest theme. I am concerned that the underlying code that the theme generates is full of things that I don't even use and I want to migrate to a cleaner less bulky theme. I have heard great things about the Genesis framework. The current problem that I face is "Theme Lock". If I activate a different theme I lose 70% of my website structure because my current theme has a lot of inbuilt shortcodes and a page builder. I realize that its going to be a lot of work migrating to a new theme but I'm willing to do it. I want to make sure that I do not face this problem again and that is why I need a bit of advice before I select a child theme to go with Genesis.
I have minimal coding skills although I do at least know my way around in WordPress. From what I have read the Genesis framework comes with minimal options and you really need to know how to code to set it up. I came across a product called Dynamik Website Builder. It seems ideal but I'm wondering if I will end up with the same type of problems if I build a website with it and then want to use a different child theme later.
If I could get some honest feedback about the following questions it would really help me make the right decision
1. If I use Dynamik and down the track I decide to buy a different child theme that is totally unrelated to Dynamik will all of my settings and layout transfer to the new theme?
2. Does Dynamik generate good clean code that will help me achieve decent SEO.
3. Are there any other suggestions for a child theme?
My current theme has so many options that I don't need and it generates enormous amounts of code. I'm after a much lighter thinned out setup. I don't like or use any sliders. I am a tradesman and my website is mainly just text , images, checklists and buttons with links.
Thanks very much
Regards
Alan

The other theme that I'm most interested in is the Epik theme. If you purchase a theme like that and you don't want a slider on your home page can you remove it completely without a lot of work. I'm after a full width layout rather than a boxed layout so Epik appeals.

Did you have a look at DynamikBeaver.com? I noticed it in one of the comments under that review I linked to. It looks like an awesome adjunct to Genesis and Dynamik Website Builder! I'm going to try to watch all the "How to Use Beaver Builder & Dynamik Website Builder" videos on their site. What I did watch so far is very, very cool! The beginning of Part 1 is about DWB, but keep watching Part 1 and he starts to use Dynamik Beaver... wow!

I guess my only real concerns with both Dynamik and Beaver builder are how clean the code is. The theme that I have at the moment creates a lot of unnecessary code. I think I will get Dynamic and see how I go. It looks like I can export any website that I make as a standalone theme that hopefully should transfer straight across to a different theme if I end up wanting to change themes later.

Yes, you can save Dynamik Website Builder's settings, but they will only transfer to another DWB on a different WordPress installation. DWB is used to build a custom WP child theme. If you want to use a Genesis child theme from StudioPress, you can use a plugin from Cobalt Apps called Genesis Extender to customize it somewhat.
