Hi,
On a report we ordered it says we have too little content (text on the index/home page).
We have tried to reduce the text to a minum to make it clearer for our users. So now we are running into another issue, it is consider as spam by google (woorank report and SEO by Yoast say its too little content on the site).
Is there any solution to this? We want our message to be clear and concise but.....if our site is consider as spam now....(if the reports are accurate)
Other website has little conent also, so I am hoping for other experiences /advice.
Thanks a lot in advance.
(I see that someone simply added a list of blogs at the end of the site, like copyblogger.com - Dont know if that is a way to solve the issue).

April 30, 2013 at 3:25 am #38526TonjeMemberThank you.
This is the msg on SEO Yoas (indexpage)t:
"There are 105 words contained in the body copy, this is below the 300 word recommended minimum. Add more useful content on this topic for readers"
This is msg at Woorank:
"This page's ratio of text to HTML code is below 15 percent, this means that your website probably needs more text content.
A ratio between 25 and 70 percent is ideal. When it goes beyond than that, the page might run the risk of being considered spam.
As long as the content is relevant and gives essential information, it is a plus to have more of it".

Good luck 🙂
April 30, 2013 at 8:36 am #38556AnitaKeymaster@Tonje, that's not something to worry about. The search engines don't want to see every blog like that way. That's basically a suggestion to increase the content - but it's not considered spam. Just make sure to keep in mind that the search engines like more viable content.

May 1, 2013 at 7:01 am #38733TonjeMemberThank you Speedmouse and anitac.
When i experience with the website and change some of the content on index page, it looks like the site perform better. /we have a better convertion rate. Therefore I was thinking if I post at least one blog on the frontpage (and of course blog regularly we will have a better organic search?). Is that how it works?
Speedmouse: you recommend to have the blogs to show up or any relevant static information.
Anitac: I dont see I can frequently change content on index page without posting the blogs.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge

May 1, 2013 at 9:32 am #38756AnitaKeymasterYes, using your the Featured Posts widget and/or the Recent Posts widgets on the home page can assist you better, along with blogging regularly.

May 2, 2013 at 5:35 am #38906speedmouseParticipantIf it was me I would add another couple of good content paragraphs under you large coloured click buttons on the home page. I wouldn't bring blog posts in there, but as other recommendation to you, have in the sidebar 'Recent Posts'.
On top of that I would do 'Curation' for most blog posts you make, as google loves that. Make sure you do it as they like though, putting all curated bits in a block quote and giving the link to the original article.

May 2, 2013 at 2:22 pm #38964TonjeMemberGreat, I will add the Recent post - thanks to both of you.
Speedmouse: I have looked into Curation and must admit I have never heard about it. Do you mean a sample of relevant post from other sites (or solely my own blogs?). It is hard to find out how to.... In the website makeusof.com they mention to use Press it in (tools) in WordPress...Do you have knowledge in that?
Thanks again
May 2, 2013 at 2:29 pm #38967TonjeMemberI guess I have one more question :-): You mention content paragraphs...Would you insert just a textbox under the buttons? For recent post, there are a few plugins, like Special recent post. Or for featured post there is a Featured post widget. Someone has experience with any of those widget and is happy with the choice..?
Thanks
May 3, 2013 at 2:30 am #39033speedmouseParticipantTonje, re: curation, if you want to send a message here: http://themarketingmother.com/contact
then I can explain to you better. If you have skype we could talk using that.

May 8, 2013 at 10:33 am #39909TonjeMemberHello again,
I added the suggested "Recent blogs" on a new testsite http://www.iexcelbooks.no/regnskap-testside1/
Now, i need to activate a section below the big buttons a section "two" to add the testemonial I recently had on the Recent blog section (which is still active on our launched site http://www.iexcelbooks.no/
Anyone knows how I can do that? Preciously I activated Home middle, but guess it is impossible to go that route as I added all html text instead of the Home Slider, Home Welcome and Home left.
Appreciate if anyone has a tips on this....
Thanks
Tonje
