sorry for the newb question...
Just trying to figure out whether this site is using a slider or not for the rotating pictures and the STATIONARY text that are right below the menu / navbar.
If it is not the genesis responsive slider, could you let me know if you think it is a plugin or tno
http://newportinteriors.net/September 3, 2013 at 6:09 pm #60532bandjMemberthere are 2 widgets. Home top left and home top right.
left uses a slider , right just uses a text widget

You said:

I am not seeing those EXACT widgets in the genesis agency theme (which they SAY that site I linked to is using).
The widgets I have are only:
Header right
Primary Sidebar
Secondary Sidebar
Home Welcome
Home Slider
Home Left
Home Middle
Home Right
Footer 1
Footer 2
Footer 3And that is all the widgets I have.
Do I need to use hooks to set this up? or do I need to use a different theme?
Thanks in advance.
September 3, 2013 at 9:05 pm #60556RobinMemberThe site you linked to is using Agency 1.0 which is a non-responsive theme. It is using WP Cycle plugin for the image rotator.
You have Agency 2.0 which is responsive and has a totally different home page widget layout as you can see in the demo http://demo.studiopress.com/agency/
Hope that helps a bit.

September 4, 2013 at 9:33 am #60637anotherusernameParticipantThank you, Robin:
What might be the easiest way to replicate the way they have done that?
I do have the genesis simple hooks plugin, and I have some code in my functions.php file that will allow me to run short code and php code from within widgets.
Would either of these be a good option?
September 4, 2013 at 8:22 pm #60751RobinMemberIf responsiveness is not important, then register another widget above the welcome, adjust the dimensions and float it left and place your slider/rotator in it. Then adjust the dimensions of the welcome widget so that it can fit next to the widget you created and float it right. Place text in that widget.
Easier method is to use the Genesis Extended plugin.

Do you have a suggestion if responsive design IS important???
I would prefer to keep the site responsive if possible.
Thanks in advance.
September 5, 2013 at 10:09 am #60863RobinMemberI would use the Genesis Extender Plugin.

September 5, 2013 at 11:34 am #60888anotherusernameParticipantOk, is there anything that CAN be done with Genesis WITHOUT having to buy the genesis extender plugin???
I was kind of under the impression that genesis was supposed to make web development easier by itself.
I understand that not every plugin is going to be genesis ready. But I guess I was just kind of hoping genesis might have more built in functionality then it apparently does...
September 5, 2013 at 1:00 pm #60905RobinMemberI understand.
If you follow the directions provided above and simply tweak the CSS, it will work and keep responsiveness.
I just explained what I WOULD do.
Good Luck to you.

September 5, 2013 at 8:11 pm #60996anotherusernameParticipantHi again, Robin:
Thanks for your help and suggestions. I really do appreciate them.
I will look into both the CSS and the Genesis Extender.
I guess I was just hoping there would be an easier way with simple hooks 🙁
Thanks again for all your help though. It is appreciated.
