Hi,
I am running Genesis Version: 2.2.3 with the News Child Theme. I am trying to rack my head as to how to go about fixing the errors that I am getting in Google Webmasters Tools as I believe that they are related to a large and sudden drop in traffic. I did post in the official WordPress.org forums yesterday regarding my use of canonical URLs, and was informed that due to using the bit.ly plugin, my traffic would suffer as Google would rank me lower due to bit.ly creating short URLs that would take traffic from Google. I have removed the plugin.
However, I am seeing some bad looking errors in Google Webmasters Tools pertaining to no structured data (Rich Snippets?) showing for my articles, of which I have written quite a lot. Here is a screenshot of the issues that I was seeing yesterday. Note, that now it is showing that there is zero Structured data?
Does anyone know why these issues might have suddenly started to arise and why they are getting worse? I haven't written an article in a few days, and I know I haven't changed anything with the exception of removing the bit.ly plugin yesterday?
Is there a way that I can add the information required to each existing and past post at once, rather that manually doing it one by one? Can I use Hooks to accomplish this?
I also have Yoast SEO (have done since 2011) installed, but I can't see anywhere in the plugin that deals with Rich Snippits that may help.
Example of the typical ones I have seen in GWT's recently:
Warning: Missing required field “entry-title”
Warning: Missing required field “updated”
Warning: Missing required hCard “author”Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Richard

I assume you still have this unresolved. It sounds like there's trouble from something, but it's not the URL shortener -- your bit.ly links are not hurting your Google PageRank. Please read this article by David Amerland on why this is so, and why they may even be advantageous in certain scenarios. If you're still concerned about interaction with bit.ly you would have to delete the references in your account at bit.ly
Google is not infallible: if you look at the raw code from your site in your browser, you can see that it includes key schema.org properties like the example microdata at
https://developers.google.com/structured-data/rich-snippets/articles
.So something changed. Genesis 2.2.3 came out in October, so that's not it. (You could update to 2.2.5, released this week.) Some new plugin or update(s)? A changed setting? What is the reference information from the error cited by Google? What is the content under "HTML Improvements" in the Google Search Console, ?
What specific metric and values have been impacted? -- this may help point you in the right direction.
