November 13, 2013 at 1:14 pm in reply to: How to remove white area below Home Featured Widget – Education Theme #727433200 CreativeMemberHi jlong,
That white area is actually due to a 50px margin attached to the content area. You could add the following to your CSS right before the mobile responsive / media settings and it would remedy the problem:
.home #content { margin: 0px; }
That should do the trick

3200 CreativeMemberOn Line 1,768 (in the media/mobile section of your style.css file) you'll find this code:
.footer-widgets, .site-container, .wrap { max-width: 772px; }
replace it with this:
.footer-widgets, .site-container, .wrap { margin: 0; max-width: 100%; }

3200 CreativeMemberadding the following to your style.css file in appearance/editor will center any paragraph text:
.sidebar p { text-align:center; }
Is there a page URL with your sidebar activated? That will make troubleshooting easier.

3200 CreativeMemberYou'll need to reiterate and translate the CSS that is on your original theme to correctly modify your new themes menu. You'll also have to migrate the images you used. For example the list item that is active on your old site uses this:
background-image: url("images/menuitem.png");
That would be applied to:
#nav li a:hover, #nav li a:active, #nav .current_page_item a, #nav .current-cat a, #nav .current-menu-item a
You'll also have to take into account the height of the buttons, font, position and padding of the links etc...

June 28, 2013 at 7:30 am in reply to: Specific sidebar widget appear only when on a mobile device? #482053200 CreativeMemberHi Kristi,
There's two ways to accomplish this. The least complicated way to handle this is through your CSS file. You hide the widget on normal devices and show it when responsive design kicks in:
/*In your standard CSS section add this*/
/*replace .widget-name with the actual class of your widget*/.widget-name {
display:none;
}/*In the responsive design section of your website add this */
.widget-name {
display:block;
}That should do it! I'm sure someone here has the function.php solution as well for you.

3200 CreativeMemberYoull also need to remove this from functions PHP
/** Add Viewport meta tag for mobile browsers */
add_action( 'genesis_meta', 'gctheme_viewport_meta_tag' );
function gctheme_viewport_meta_tag() {
echo '';
}

3200 CreativeMemberI just recreated your scenario with a default install of the Focus theme and the title tag is popping up fine. I'm not sure why it isn't on your end? I recommend disabling all plugins to see if its still missing.

3200 CreativeMemberNow I see what your talking about. I believe your looking for the 'title' attribute to create a hover when you roll your mouse over the image. Typically the alt won't produce this effect.
I added the following to your img and it appears to be working fine:
title="image name"

3200 CreativeMemberHi Graham,
Can you post a link to your site for reference? Can you also explain what you mean by alternative text? That'll help in getting an accurate answer first try:)

3200 CreativeMemberYes, the themes should work out of the box. I recommend putting a test version of your site online. That would make it much easier for people to see a front-end scenario of your problem and provide a quick solution.

3200 CreativeMemberNot seeing it online makes this hard to resolve. It sounds like you don't have enough width specified in your header widget.

3200 CreativeMemberHi Tracy,
To get the posts to display in 3 columns instead of 2 you will have to remove the following code:.genesis-grid-odd {
clear: both;
float: left;
}Next add a specified width to the #content .genesis-grid:
#content .genesis-grid {
float: left;
margin: 0;
padding: 15px 0 10px 3%;
width: 340px;
}(for the width you can also use percentages)
To limit the amount of posts shown something similar to this code will work:
is_main_query() && $query->is_archive() ) {
$query->set( 'posts_per_page', 3 );
}
}More info on limiting the posts can be found here

3200 CreativeMemberThe Genesis Single Post Navigation plugin is a rather simple solution. It appends arrows to the site allowing the user to flip through posts. Might be a good place to start!:)

3200 CreativeMemberHi John,
Here's some CSS that I use to implement a full size background. You'll need a much larger image for it to look good.
body {
background: url(images/bg7.jpg) no-repeat center center fixed;
-webkit-background-size: cover;
-moz-background-size: cover;
-o-background-size: cover;
background-size: cover;
}
Hope it helps!
