Thanks Genwrock, the code at functions.php is a little different (see below), should I delete the whole section below?
//* Enqueue Scripts add_action( 'wp_enqueue_scripts', 'enterprise_load_scripts' ); function enterprise_load_scripts() { wp_enqueue_script( 'enterprise-responsive-menu', get_bloginfo( 'stylesheet_directory' ) . '/js/responsive-menu.js', array( 'jquery' ), '1.0.0' ); wp_enqueue_style( 'dashicons' ); wp_enqueue_style( 'google-fonts', '//fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Open+Sans:400,700,600', array(), CHILD_THEME_VERSION ); }
awdesignMemberThanks for your help. Following code worked.
//* create above-footer-widget genesis_register_sidebar( array( 'id' => 'above-footer-widget', 'name' => __( 'Above Footer Widget', 'genesis' ), 'description' => __( 'Custom Widget Area', 'childtheme' ), ) ); add_action( 'genesis_before_footer', 'add_genesis_widget_area' ); function add_genesis_widget_area() { if (!is_front_page () ) return; genesis_widget_area( 'above-footer-widget', array( 'before' => '<div class="above-footer-widget widget-area">', 'after' => '</div>', ) ); }
awdesignMemberthis code also shows the widget on all pages except home page;
//* create above-footer-widget genesis_register_sidebar( array( 'id' => 'above-footer-widget', 'name' => __( 'Above Footer Widget', 'genesis' ), 'description' => __( 'Custom Widget Area', 'childtheme' ), ) ); add_action( 'genesis_before_footer', 'add_genesis_widget_area' ); function add_genesis_widget_area() { if (is_front_page () ) return; genesis_widget_area( 'above-footer-widget', array( 'before' => '<div class="above-footer-widget widget-area">', 'after' => '</div>', ) ); }
My goal is to show the widget only on Home page.
Thanks for your help.
awdesignMemberThanks Dom;
following code shows on all pages except home page;
//* create above-footer-widget genesis_register_sidebar( array( 'id' => 'above-footer-widget', 'name' => __( 'Above Footer Widget', 'genesis' ), 'description' => __( 'Custom Widget Area', 'childtheme' ), ) ); add_action( 'genesis_before_footer', 'add_genesis_widget_area' ); function add_genesis_widget_area() { if (is_page (7044) ) return; genesis_widget_area( 'above-footer-widget', array( 'before' => '<div class="above-footer-widget widget-area">', 'after' => '</div>', ) ); }
awdesignMemberThanks Dom, appreciate your help,
LewisawdesignMemberThanks Julia, it works.
awdesignMemberThanks Dom, still the same problem. I added this code to style.css
/* Primary Navigation for desktop --------------------------------------------- */ .nav-primary .wrap { border: none; } .nav-primary a:hover, .nav-primary .current-menu-item > a, .nav-primary .sub-menu a:hover, .nav-primary .sub-menu .current-menu-item > a:hover { color: #ed702b; text-decoration:none; } .nav-primary .sub-menu .current-menu-item > a { color: #fff; } /* remove hover effect from touch devices */ .site-header .current-menu-item > a, .site-header .sub-menu a:hover { .nav-primary .wrap { border: none; } .nav-primary a, .nav-primary .current-menu-item > a, .nav-primary .sub-menu a, .nav-primary .sub-menu .current-menu-item > a{ color: #ed702b; text-decoration:none; } }
still you have to tap twice on touch devices. I think it still gets the hover effect from desktop css code.
On iphone you have to tap twice to activate the link (I think 1st. tap triggers :hover, 2nd. tap triggers link).I found this article about it but I do not know how to apply the best solution.
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2741816/is-it-possible-to-force-ignore-the-hover-pseudoclass-for-iphone-ipad-usersAny other advice appreciated, thanks for your help.
awdesignMemberThanks Dom, it is in CCS but not in media section. how can you have a:hover for desktop only and not for phone tablet touch devices in CSS ?
awdesignMemberThis problem was solved, it was in Genesis > Heading script section.
awdesignMemberThanks for your reply James, I checked everything and nothing show that extra code. do you have any other advice or tool to check this?
awdesignMemberThanks for the information Mark, I appreciate it. I got the same response by email,
Take care,
LewisawdesignMemberThanks Jackie. I put css customization files into custom.css. But I did not create a similar file for php changes in the php files I made. I am not sure if it was possible to collect all php changes in one file or another recommended procedure to collect all php changes so child theme upgrades does not mess up with the customization we did.
Thanks again, take care.awdesignMemberMark, did you get a reply from anyone else?
awdesignMemberThis reply has been marked as private.awdesignMemberthe screen shot for the above problem; https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/10694722/author-h1.gif
awdesignMemberDo you know why Author Box Title wrapped with H1 tag?
how can we remove H1 tag from Author Title?
Thanks
LewisawdesignMemberFPW looks very good, I will try. thanks for your help.
LewisawdesignMemberThanks for your help Chris. One of the old themes was crating the problem, I deleted it and it is working fine now.
Take care,
LewisawdesignMemberThank you Brad & Aaron, I appreciate your help,
LewisawdesignMemberThanks for your help Brad, but I do not want to have two split areas side by side. I like to have additional sidebar areas to enter sub menus, enter facebook box, enter Testimonials, etc. for several purposes. and each box will be visible on different pages. so the side bars should not be site-wide. I am not sure if this is possible, Thanks.
