Creating an account and email (and saved searches) is often handled by the IDX feed subscription service - depends on who you get your feed from. Mine integrates with agentpress and the basic package offers all of those features (I just can't look up what they've been looking at without paying a bunch more.)
[email protected]MemberHere is one possibility:
If you are doing development from more than one site, you can run in to problems. If you leave any files open on one development site, open those same files and edit them on a second development site and save them, and then go back to those open files at the first development site and do a save- the changes made at the second site will be overwritten by the old files at the first development site. (This for sure happens with editors like CODA and probably with Dreamweaver etc.)
If a wordpress item is open on one development computer and another computer modifies and saves that item- when the first development computer gets back to the item - wordpress will probably prompt the user to save the auto back-up of the file- overwriting the changes made on the second computer.
My personal practice and my suggestion- before you leave any development computer save your files and close. If you ever come back to a development computer and there are files open, close them without saving them and then reopen them --- unless you are sure that they have not been modified elsewhere.
[email protected]MemberYou are right on target. I had excerpts selected- when I selected content limit I got the [read more...] - except on the home page- I will have to check that out. Thanks Brad.
[email protected]MemberHi Brad, thanks.
That was already done - just like you described. Everything is working except my posts don't have the [Read more...] that takes you to the full post - mine just has the [...] that doesn't go anywhere.
With mine you can click on the picture or the title and get there- but you would think you could click in the continue [...] to get to the full post.

[email protected]MemberI too am new. My advice- start by using an existing child theme. You will learn 10x faster because you will have breakthroughs every day. Once you see the steps in making a site work, making your own changes and once you see how Genesis works in conjunction with the child theme you may not need to create your own from scratch and additionally you will have a foundation that will give you at least a chance to do so. I have made some really good progress in just a couple of weeks.
[email protected]MemberThis appears to be a combination of correct image size generation and style.css issue. When I refresh your page and the first image comes up there is a 10px slide overlap on the left. To me this indicates that the slide-view area is 10px larger then the slide. Since the slide doesn't fit the slide area you see the remainder of the previous (or in the case of the first - the last slide in the loop.)
I am having a similar problem. In my case I get the white background instead of the full slide fill. I am still working on it.
In Media images I noticed that there is an image generation type called slider- but when I upload an image and wordpress generates the various size images - the slider image size does not get generated. I assume that the slider image size is what the Genesis slider wants to use but because it is not available it uses another of the images and scales it.
One thing that you might check is the ratio of your images. Say your slider area is 400 px wide X 300px high and the image you import is 400 px wide and 310 px high - in my experience the slider will fit the image according to the dimension that fills the space first- in this case the height - It will re-size the image to 300 px high and 390 px wide (approximately) leaving 10 px wide unaccounted for in the slide area. Are your images and your slide area the same ratio of size? You can look at the sizes in the media section and see if the size ratios are the same.
FYI- I look forward to a more experienced genesis slider user checking and commenting on my post and our issue.
[email protected]MemberNot in mobile view when viewing on my pc - in full view (as far as I can tell.)
Do you have your browser set to emulate mobile?
[email protected]MemberOK- I was wrong on both accounts. Agentpress is not responsive and dsIDxpress is not responsive. I have subsequently learned that although DSIDXpress will automatically transfer html inquiries for IDX results to their hosted mobile results formatted pages it does not offer up responsive results pages at a user's site (i.e. my site) through wordpress integration. It does keep quasi connection to my site- and allows the end user to register and make inquiries but the info results are not hosted or published from my local site.
I wonder how that effects the seo of mobile searches -probably not linked through my site?
Back to the drawing boards.
Observation regarding the topic of responsiveness (and others) in wordpress: As a novice there will always be topics that we don't understand enough about to ask the right questions- or that we should be asking questions.
[email protected]MemberWhat are the options to make a site responsive - now that I've learned that agentpress is not a responsive theme? see this post.
[email protected]MemberWell- thanks for sugar coating the news for me and letting me down easy. ouch.
To answer your question 1. Agentpress states that it is integrated with Diverse Solutions dsidxpress which is responsive (flow through of realtor MLS listing information responsive from computers to mobile devices.) Based on that studiopress statement, the fact that a number of other studiopress themes are responsive and that there was no mention of Agentpress not being responsive, its easy to conclude that the theme is responsive. How can it be integrated with the responsive DSidxpress if it isn't responsive?
So here I am- where do I go from here? (no four letter suggestions please.)
Thanks
[email protected]MemberOK- I am pretty new to Genesis and its child themes but I have been picking things up in the last few weeks. Look for resources on Hooks- these are places in the document layout where you can insert actions (like widgets that contain menus, banners or text.) For example in my child theme "Agency" the slider is in the content area. I can use a hook called "genesis-before-content" to place a widget before the content area that allows me to put a banner- or another slider-show for that matter.
The action takes a bit of coding- but it is basic and should not take you long to figure it out- also- there are a lot of knowledgable folks on the forum that can help if you are stumped.
Good luck
[email protected]MemberThanks Brad- I think I am getting the drift here- the templates in the drop down when you quick edit from the pages area- are the genesis core templates that shouldn't be messed with.
The templates that are part of the Agentpress child theme show up on the right hand side of the "Appearance- Editor" screen. These could be edited for specific purpose but the preferred method is to modify the functions.php (shown as the "Theme Functions") to add or remove hooks at hook positions with the use of conditions for pages or groups of pages. Instead of having a bunch of static templates that are applied to pages- we use the functions.php to create a dynamic template based on conditions- and css to add the style. By creating pages or groups of pages that fulfill the conditions they will be structured and styled as desired.
Let me know if I am on track. Also if you can provide additional information about filtering existing functions that would be great.
Thanks again.
[email protected]MemberThanks for the quick reply- a couple of things-
Can I use widget logic for the widgets in the body sections of the page also? (Agentpress and dsIDXpress have some widgets that apply to the body as well.)
I would guess there is a way to apply widget logic to a template (or shall I say - I hope there is a way.) If I could do that I could feed parameters to a page with shortcode and have it laid out to my liking by the templates - selected in the drop down in quick-edit. If not I gather I would need to use a third party code editor (I have Coda 2) to add widgets to a specific template.
Thanks again.
[email protected]MemberI am working on both a local test platform and www server. I hadn't considered that it might be a server issue- but I would think that agentpress would still show the button even if it was inoperable. I will check on both my local and www server.
I was able to use an editor program and save the file- after I saved it, it did show up in the template list in agentpress- so I do have a work around and I probably will be using the editor program (Coda 2) more than the simple editing interface in agentpress for most of the advanced editing.
Thanks for your reply
