I'm not sure if the various methods I have tried have been replaced with new versions of the theme, so what I was hoping for was something like "as of right now, this is the best way to edit this" kind of post.
What I did for the hover was linked in the first sentence, but here it is again, as well as this. I didn't want to post too much CSS because I know that a giant wall of text is... discouraged lol. The CSS I provided was merely to show that I had resorted to removing all instances of the undesired color, to no avail.
I use the plugin because this is my first site and I find that it's more convenient then sorting through hundreds of lines of CSS to find what I'm looking for.
KruciallMemberSorry for the double post, getting a 404 trying to replying to this thread. Shit is broke everywhere for me I guess.
KruciallMemberI haven't even got that far lol. I've tried several ways to change the background color to a solid black, but nothing worked. I've already deleted the child theme once, and it didn't do anything. Are you suggesting that I delete Genesis too?
And the pages are now showing the correct background color. It's almost as if any updates take time to register.
KruciallMemberWelcome and Disclaimer have "old edits". I've disabled the plugin that lets me use that background, yet it still shows. Also, my widget area is messed up, until you actually click a link in that area.
KruciallMemberI use that and various Genesis plugins to edit it, since I'm not too experienced with the style.css editing. I am using the default one, yes.

KruciallMemberJust checked- it's in the correct place. Public_html>domain>wp-content>themes
KruciallMemberIt's a fresh site so I wasn't losing anything. The setting I had for permalinks was /%postname%/. When you asked if I could change them, I didn't do it through the Settings, I just literally went to a page and edited it. I just changed them from the custom /%postname%/ to month and name and created a new post and the permalink changed to the new format.
However, I made a new test page and I noticed that after adding the new page to the menu, the style changes to my site appeared. Just to make sure that's what it was, I changed the background color. Cleared my cache, refreshed the page. No change. Then I created a new page, added it to the menu, and bam... the background color changed.
KruciallMemberNew development. If I click on any of the links located in the widgets, it'll take me to a page that shows all of my changes. Then I click on menu links and I get right back to the screwed up version. Maybe I just need to delete all content and start fresh.
KruciallMemberOkay, nothing has changed when viewing on another browser. I changed the header image to one with a background color instead of just text, and the change didn't show up with Firefox (main browser) or IE.
I did notice something interesting when viewing from a different browser. My header image appears to have a slight shadow surrounding it when viewing the site with Firefox, however with IE, there is no shadow and the image blends flawlessly with the stock background color.
KruciallMemberOh, and when editing the CSS, I am using the WordPress Editor.
KruciallMemberI just tried to change a permalink- didn't work. I can see my files and my permissions are exactly as you say they should be. I haven't done anything other than install the theme, like I said I'm a total noob, so messing around in the ftp area is not something I'm familiar with.
I have not tried to use a different browser but I'll do that right now.
