Hi, Well, as soon as I entered the question above, I figured it out. I changed the nav-primary background color, and it worked.

I have been editing the style.css file and I'm not sure what 'file' I should see the <div style="background: #d6d9e0;"> although I understand what it is from working with Dreamweaver. I don't know where I see it, because the footer is not on the page when I click to see the code.
PatBirchParticipantHi Anita, Yes, I did convert the style sheet to HTML5 as well. I'm wondering if there needs to be adjustments in the footer php file. That seems to be the only thing I cannot get to work. I tried adding the code that I added to the functions.php file to the footer-widgeted. php file, but it did not impact the website. The problem is that the footer should be 100% with a .wrap at 960px to contact the three widgets in the footer. However, the three widgets are not contained in the 960px width; the third floated right and the other two float left. I changed the float on the third to be float left also, but now they are all floating left and not centered under the content.
PatBirchParticipantHi braddalton, Thank you SO very much! I just saw your link and backed up my file, saved the CSS, edited my functions.php file and converted the CSS AND my sidebars now work. I seem to have one issue with the footer, which I think I'll be able to resolve. I cannot tell you how very much I appreciate your sharing the link. You were a lifesaver!
PatBirchParticipantThank you. I appreciate your input. I'm close to finishing - just need to work out the sidebar. Already have a mobile site for this client, so the desktop site will only be used on the desktop with others re-directed. I guess to change to HTML 5 I would need to select another theme. i'll try and look for one that is comparable without too much rework. Need to have the two navs... Maybe that won't be too difficult to find.
