Sorry, my last post was typed on my mobile and there are more than a few mistakes. I hope the following explains it better.
My new index page strictly-driving.co.uk is a copy of the theme (I wanted it to match) and stands alone in the domain directory. The SEO from my previous web page was simply copied over.
All of the linked pages are produced in the theme which is saved in a sub directory of the domain.
I have not deleted any of the old pages, I have placed a permanent redirect to the relevant content in the new theme website.
There were two reasons for the change. Stats suggested I was losing work because my original site was not responsive. I wanted to start a blog that would be related to the main website. wordpress/studiopress seemed to be a sensible approach.
Thanks again to all those who have taken the time to reply to my ramblings.
PaulC999MemberI have created a new index page using the style and appearance of the the magazine theme. Seoul for the new index page was a simple matter of transferring it over from the old page.
My old website worked Ok except that it was not responsive and I was losing business as potential clients are using iPhones more often than they used to.
All linked pages haven reproduced within the theme together with some blog posts which I not done before. I have installed Yoast SEO into which I have inserted the same google and bing verification references.
All old we ages have got a permenent redirect to the relevant content in the WordPress replacement.
The new website has only been up for a few hours and its too early to say if the is any damage.PaulC999MemberThanks for your time blogjunkie. I really appreciate the advice.
