Within in minutes of my post I solved the problem (isn't that how it often happens?!) - using the "Quotes and Tips" plugin, I simply moved the shortcake to its own page (as opposed to a widget in the sidebar) and used the Button block to effectively reload the page. The plugin allows for a new quote to be presented upon page load (I was previously using the time-based option).
At any rate, I hope someone stumbles upon this is the future and finds it helpful as I had no luck in searching for an answer to this.
rcarloneParticipantVery helpful thread! I set this theme up today and couldn't get around the fact that only 3 posts per page were being shown despite changing Genesis > Theme Settings > Blog Page Template > Posts per Page to 10
Settings->Reading->Blog pages show at most seems to be the only setting that affects the number of posts shown on the page, so what exactly does the setting under the Genesis Theme settings impact?
rcarloneParticipantThanks, danielshaw for asking the question and emasai for the spot-on solution. I spent a good 30 minutes going through posts trying to make this a bit more visually appealing on wider screens and this worked perfectly with a simple cut/paste. Thanks!
rcarloneParticipantI use Cooked Pro (not affiliated or to be confused with Cook'd). It doesn't look like any of the other recipe plug-ins out there which is why I liked it. I'll warn you though, it can be challenging to find the right StudioPress theme that visually looks right with it. I am also using Cook'd, so I can say that one does work (all of the Feast ones look good, in fact).
I was an absolute beginner with CSS, coding, etc. so I've struggled/learned a lot along the way. Your mileage may vary...

I was using a full-width content layout in the theme I just switched from and completely missed the connection that I needed to adjust that.
Thanks again!
rcarloneParticipantAh yes, that makes total sense, thank you for articulating/explaining it to me! I'll work through the various options and figure out he best path forward for my site.
Thanks again, very much. I knew it had to be something under the covers but was very unclear where to start digging, so you've helped tremendously with this.
rcarloneParticipantI haven't made any changes yet as I haven't really found any useful solutions to date. It doesn't seem to matter what size I make the original.
FWIW, I am able to use SnagIt to create a new shape of the photo which does help with positioning - the major downside to this is that resolution is greatly compromised. So at this point I'm staying with the high resolution photo that is a little off-kilter vs. a crappy looking picture in the exact location I want it. Your results may vary.
rcarloneParticipantHi Chris -
Thanks for the reply. I used to accomplish this just like you've mentioned but quickly saw what you mean by getting complicated. I think I've figured out how to do this using Premise products which makes it much easier with less administrative overhead.
Thanks again!
