We have had a handful of people ask us about this.
We just did a theme that we install to client sites and do IDX Broker integration to. We call it Austin Press and the pricing includes setting it up on the server. http://realtycandy.com/themes/austin-press-idx/
This is to setup an exact copy of the demo at http://themes.realtycandy.com/austin-idx/ to your site.
If you are looking for a DIY solution, you will like Anita's free download. : )
Thanks, James
RealtyCandyMember1. No, you can't use a subdirectory. Although Matt Cutts from Google says that they are about the same. Google " matt cutts subdomain vs directory ".
2. Yes. You can see one we are working on for a client at http://realestate.alltucson.com/idx/details/listing/a067/21310732/6620-N-Eagle-Ridge-Drive-Tucson-Arizona
3. Not really. You can create redirects on your site or short urls or something of that nature.
4. I don't think so. You might be able to do some after: before: tags in CSS but I haven't really explored that.
Like Winston Churchill said : "Democracy is the worst form of government. With the exception of all the others. "
I did my last NON- IDX Broker site this summer for a client. They really wanted to use a different vendor. Once we got into the project and were about to finish it, some of the pain points for them with their IDX were actually things that were easy to do with IDX Broker. They would probably have been better off with IDX Broker, but that was their choice.
THhanks,
James
RealtyCandyMember@anitac,
You have us all chomping at the bit.Let me know when you are ready. I want to be your first customer!
RealtyCandyMemberThanks.
Now you found out that I am really forum-ignorant : )
RealtyCandyMemberI am very biased since I am a IDX Broker Developer Partner.
Having said that, I have learned a lot about IDX over the last few years. One of the most important things is that all of the vendors are better at some things than others.
I have owned Palm, Nokia, Blackberry, and Apple smartphones. They were all better than everybody else at something.
IDX is the same way. Some vendors will have a feature set that works for you, and that same feature set may not be a good match for someone else.
I have done AgentPress responsive with IDX Broker Platinum installs for a lot of clients. The biggest reasons that I have clients switch TO IDX Broker from other vendors are:
1. Mobile Responsive
2. Map Search
3. CRM / Lead CaptureI know that IDX Broker is working on adding new features.
Let me know if there are any specific questions about IDX Broker that I can help with.
Thanks,
James
RealtyCandyMemberThe drop down menus, if I remember right put the taxonomy in the order it was entered. (taxonomyID if you will). You can either make your own search tool (the easiest) or you can redo your taxonomy order by deleting and redo-ing them, or getting into mysql and changing those numbers around.
Good luck.
RealtyCandyMemberI have never tried this, but what if you change the permissions needed to use the Listings property type?
There are a lot of permissions plugins available.
RealtyCandyMemberLook at some of the code out there on the internet about how to remove the title from a certain page in Genesis. Use that same concept to remove the viewport.
RealtyCandyMemberJust find the viewport setting in functions.php and comment it out.
I don't have the exact lines, but you can look and find it.
Good luck,
James

I think that demo3.cre8tivediva.com theme is super nice too. That should be the AgentPress 3.0 theme right there!!!
I see a number of people asking about AgentPress mobile responsive.
We have just finished doing a couple of "modifications" to client sites like fractionalspecialist.com and fabuloussouthbay.com
If that is something that someone needs, you can get it over at http://realtycandy.com
Thanks,
James
RealtyCandyMemberWe just converted AgentPress 2 to HTML5 and we are getting it ready to setup for a couple of clients hopefully this week. I will put a post here once we have a site up and running.
RealtyCandyMemberLapuntarealty,
Who is making AgentPress 3.0?
I would love to see what he is working on. Maybe we have a few suggestions that could be beneficial.
Thanks,
James
RealtyCandyMemberSuzanne,
I am assuming that you figured this out by now, but for the benefit of those who come later.
It is pretty easy. We see this all the time with our real estate website clients.
Just remove the AgentPress widget and drag it over to where all the "inactive" widgets are.
Then, if you have the IDX Broker plugin installed, you will have a new IDX Broker Search widget that you can drag over to the sidebar.
If you don't have the IDX Broker plugin, just drag a Text/HTML box and you can put your own custom code in there.
If you don't have "custom code" for the form, just message me and I can shoot you something.
Thanks,
James
RealtyCandyMemberI did a fun multi-site with about 100 different sites on it, and they were all Genesis child themes.
I am not a huge fan of the whole multisite environment for my users, because they wanted a lot of customizations and plugins etc.
As far as Genesis, it is nice to be able to Google "how to fix xxxx on Genesis and find an answer".
I was using a different CMS on a client site, and I couldn't even find a solution to "how to get to the admin login for xxxx".
I also went to the AgentPress live event in California and met a bunch of the CopyBlogger folks. I was impressed by their commitment to making products that work really well.
If you are doing MultiPress or single sites, I would really recommend Genesis.
Good luck,
James
RealtyCandyMemberIf you want to do it with CSS, you can do something like:
.post-77 .entry-title {display: none;}
Kind of quick and dirty. that post-77 would need to be changed if it is a page instead of a post.
Good luck,
James
RealtyCandyMemberSuzanne,
I see from your site that you didn't get that search box setup.
It looks like you are using AgentPress theme.
If you are still interested, I can help, we have done this for some clients.
Basically you change the size of that slider and then you just put opacity in the css for the search box so that there is some transparency.
It would really spice up your site! If you need specifics, let me know.
Thanks,
James
RealtyCandyMemberJessica,
Back to your original question about IDX results being integrated with AgentPress listings. I haven't see that done...yet.
We are actually working on a tool to make something like that.
There are a ton of MLS rules that would basically make it NOT allowed.
If you want info about specific IDX solutions, we have worked with a number of them on different sites for clients and developer/resellers, I can give you my 2cents, but I think it is a little off topic from your original question.
Shoot me a pm or an email and I would be happy to share.
Thanks,
James
RealtyCandyMemberAgentPress is perfect for you BECAUSE you don't have IDX. You can load your own listings into it.
RealtyCandyMemberKevin,
Don't worry so much about the "Free" part. That just isn't going to work. It is like using a "Free" theme instead of Genesis: You miss out and it costs more in the long run.
There are a number of good IDX vendors out there. I have worked with 2-3 that I really like. They all charge about $30-$50 per month or more for a single agent.
When I worked as a Realtor, I was making a lot of money off of that $40 per month. The "Free" ones won't work well. Trust me!
Good Luck.
