August 24, 2013 at 8:19 pm in reply to: Sixteen Nine + Simple Social Icons: widget disappears #58654DerekMember
I have the theme and plugin and the icons are showing up in my side bar. I have more then 1 plugin installed btw.

DerekMemberThe widget's is correct with this theme. I'm using it as well and that's how it was designed. Brian used this on his official blog for awhile before creating a new theme.
All themes will not have all those types of widget's that you mentioned. This is coded into the theme by the designer.

DerekMemberHave any of you tried asking for a fix via. ticket system? I don't think the theme creator saw this thread.

DerekMemberFollow the StudioPress blog to know what themes have been updated. The eleven 40 has been updated like mentioned in this blog post already.
http://www.studiopress.com/releases/genesis-framework-20.htm
Also, whatever theme that you is using now, you will see a version number in your appearance themes tab. Login to your downloads section here on studiopress and compare version numbers. I just follow the studiopress blog as they will announce updated themes and new release's.
I am a pro member so I get all the themes in my download section. lol
StudioPress needs to have another column in downloads section with "last modified" date mentioned so it is easy to know if something has been updated but never announced to the public.

DerekMemberYou is talking about getting emails about status updates on the beta version or blog posts on the official StudioPress blog?
I just follow Brian on twitter to get some updates from him.
~’;’~
DerekMemberI am subscribed to his official blog and other sites/accounts online.
<--- has plans for HTML 5 stuff and new theme in mind but like everyone else, this Snake waiting on 2.0
My web host websynthesis just allowed us to upgraded to 3.6 yesterday. Hopefully this a sign 2.0 is coming before this weekend. (I'm going out of town this weekend and hope it's released before I leave)

DerekMemberBe patient folks. StudioPress does not want to release a product that has bug's. I rather wait longer for a product that is perfect with no bug's so I can upgrade 1 time, make additional theme edit's and focus on drinking beer. 😛

DerekMemberThe reason why the studiopress staff don't post that often on the forum is because they is doing 1 on 1 support in which is really good. I have used there ticket system a few times and like the 1 on 1 support in which I don't get different answers from multiple people in which just confuse's me.
The old forum has a lot of out-dated information and still have some information that could still work. If you search this forum, you will find Nick explaining why the forum was removed.
The moderators on this forum are volunteer's I believe and not paid staff so they won't be online 24 hours a day like the staff is if you use the ticket system.

Read this post by Susan a moderator on this forum before you respond again.

DerekMemberCan you provide a link to your blog?
Do you use any revenue generating programs on your blog? I'm thinking what it could be but without us looking at your blog, we can not give a real answer.

DerekMemberSo when all the tips in the old forum will no longer work in the new frameworks, you still want it?
The thread creator should of contacted support about this as no moderator or studiopress staff has even replied in this thread yet. They must be busy answering support ticket's.
I have not used the old forum since this new one was created. I got all my help through the ticket system or on this forum by helpful members.

DerekMemberI wonder if there could be some sticky threads with fix's for the most asked questions. Sorta like a FAQ of some sort. One that moderators or the admin's can continue to edit if they feel that some issues/problems keep getting asked over and over again.
Meh, I need to get some coffee so my real good idea's come to me.

DerekMemberI will miss the old forum but as the Genesis Framework continues to evolve some of the coding fix's may or may not work in the current version or mess things up even more.
This new forum is still new but it's getting there with a wealth of knowledge. Latley for answer's I've found them on the following links:
http://www.briangardner.com/code/
http://my.studiopress.com/snippets/
http://www.studiopress.com/faqs
http://my.studiopress.com/tutorials/The admin or moderators on here would be able to answer your concerns much better but there are very smart members on this forum that is capable of helping resolve any issue besides the 1 on 1 support that StudioPress now provides.

DerekMemberI am following this thread on the support site. The plugin author was away when this happened. Looks like Brain has made some steps towards getting this updated.

WPSmith is the plugin creator.

DerekMemberBeta testing has not started yet for Genesis Framework 2.0 and expect it to be released after WordPress updates. No use releasting and update before WordPress has a chance to roll out there update.

DerekMemberBesides having Cloudflare I have a captcha plugin for the comment area. That stops a ton of spammers from submitting a comment. I do get a few daily but i've been banned there IP address's. I'm used to handling spammer's. I'm a super moderator on a large webmaster forum. lol
Really good advice so far in this thread.

DerekMemberI use Google Analytic's to track all my detailed stat's. There is actually a plugin that you could use to help set this up.
http://yoast.com/wordpress/google-analytics/
Remember to create an account on http://www.google.com/analytics/Â which is free before you install and setup the plugin.
