its the missing /* on that multi line comment causing your menu problems. Its causing all of your media queries to get messed up. when I fix it in my browser the responsive menu starts working again.
October 8, 2017 at 1:29 am in reply to: Author Pro theme – change layout to show 4 books across #212271tarmadilloParticipantactually if you can edit the css file of the plug in and change
.archive.genesis-author-pro .content .entry:nth-of-type(3n+1)
to.archive.genesis-author-pro .content .entry:nth-of-type(4n+1)
that would work better but you would have to change it again if the plugin updates.if not then try
.archive.genesis-author-pro .content .entry:nth-of-type(3n+1) { clear: unset !important; margin-left: 2.5641025641026% !important; } .archive.genesis-author-pro .content .entry:nth-of-type(4n+1) { clear: both; } .archive.genesis-author-pro .content .entry { width: 21.5% !important; }
to your style.css the spacing is better and it wouldnt let me edit my old post
October 8, 2017 at 12:16 am in reply to: Author Pro theme – change layout to show 4 books across #212270tarmadilloParticipantI'm not really familiar with author pro or the plugin so I'm not sure if the plugin has its own css file.
try adding
.archive.genesis-author-pro .content .entry:nth-of-type(3n+1) { clear: unset !important; margin-left: unset !important; } .archive.genesis-author-pro .content .entry:nth-of-type(4n+1) { clear: both; margin-left: 0; }
to style.css
let me know if that works
October 7, 2017 at 7:57 pm in reply to: Hamburger Menu /Mobile styling sudddenly not working #212267tarmadilloParticipantalso I ran your css through csslint and there are parsing errors that may be causing you problems http://csslint.net
Unexpected token '}' at line 1311, col 1.
Expected LBRACE at line 2120, col 57. (missing a /* on multi-line comment)
Unexpected token '760px' at line 2120, col 57.
Expected IDENT at line 2121, col 29.edit* the missing /* on line 2120 of your css is the source of your responsive menu problems as well
October 7, 2017 at 7:40 pm in reply to: Hamburger Menu /Mobile styling sudddenly not working #212266tarmadilloParticipantare you sure you didn't change the following section in functions.php?
$suffix = ( defined( 'SCRIPT_DEBUG' ) && SCRIPT_DEBUG ) ? '' : '.min'; wp_enqueue_script( 'altitude-responsive-menu', get_stylesheet_directory_uri() . '/js/responsive-menus' . $suffix . '.js', array( 'jquery' ), CHILD_THEME_VERSION, true ); wp_localize_script( 'altitude-responsive-menu', 'genesis_responsive_menu', altitude_responsive_menu_settings() );;
Same happened to me when I changed 'altitude-responsive-menu' under wp_enqueue_script but not wp_localize_script.
tarmadilloParticipantI'm not sure what you mean by "not display fully". When I check it on my phone the sidebar shows up under the content as expected even when turned landscape.
If you are trying to make the sidebar wider on desktop, It looks like changing
sidebar-primary
instead ofsidebar
should work
tarmadilloParticipantlooks like you need to change
background-color: #fff
tobackground-color: #0c0c0d
of the following to match the background color of your example:body
.site-header
.site-inner
.footer-widgets
.woocommerce ul.products li.product.masonry-brickand then of course change
color
on each of those to something not blackI assume that is what you were asking.
Don't forget to check out Victor Font's post about the browser inspect tool. You'll need it to find font colors you need to change https://www.studiopress.community/topic/tutorial-how-to-use-your-browsers-inspect-tool/
September 28, 2017 at 12:37 pm in reply to: Showcase: Anything Graphic – Website Designer and Developer #211966tarmadilloParticipantI love the way you do your portfolio and the portfolio entries. It's definitely high impact. If you don't mind me asking, how do you source your pictures? They don't look like your typical stock photos. Are they provided by the client?
tarmadilloParticipantDid you add it using the Appearance>Customize originally?
If not, if you are using Brackets or Notepad++ or similar you can use ctrl+shift+F to search in all files within the child theme directory, then look for the image file name.
Also, don't forget to change the url from localhost to your production site's domain name in your css file.
Honestly, you should have been able to use the Customizer to add the header and then use CSS to change it's size rather than hard-coding the image url in CSS. I realized I made the assumption that you used the customizer and it wasn't working right. Other than having to remember to change the image url in the CSS file there's no real issue for doing it the way I showed you though.
May 26, 2017 at 1:15 pm in reply to: Full width slider into the Home Section 1 portion of Parallax Pro #207042tarmadilloParticipantYou should be able to by editing
front-page.php
try changing this:
genesis_widget_area( 'home-section-1', array( 'before' => '<div class="home-odd home-section-1 widget-area"><div class="full-height"><div class="wrap">', 'after' => '</div></div></div>', ) );
to this
genesis_widget_area( 'home-section-1', array( 'before' => '<div class="home-odd home-section-1 widget-area">', 'after' => '</div>', ) );
It will get rid of the wrap and allow it to be full width. I did something similar for Altitude Pro.
What type of slider do you want to use? If it's shortcode based you can add widget based support with this in your
functions.php
:// Enable shortcodes in widgets add_filter('widget_text', 'do_shortcode');
afterward just use a text widget, enter the slider's short code and that's it. It may take a bit of CSS work though.
Keep in mind I'm new to all this so I don't know if this is a proper way to do it. I'd love some feedback from experts on this as well.
tarmadilloParticipanthmm, I also get the error if I leave the
<em>
tag unclosed in other sections. It looks like on your site everything after "Our Ethos" is italicized also when I leave one unclosed my browser inspector's html has a bunch of extra<em>
tags as well. Check the Front Page 2 widget.
tarmadilloParticipantI was able to recreate your error with an unclosed
<em>
tag in the first widget of each section. Check to make sure they are closed properly and it should get fixed.
May 25, 2017 at 11:00 pm in reply to: Dead Simple Help – Changing my Hyperlink color and style in Minimum Pro Theme #206992tarmadilloParticipantI looked at the demo site and you are editing the right section.
This turned all links blue and added a solid blue line under the "Read More" links
a { border-bottom: 1px solid #0645AD; color: #0645AD; font-weight: 400; text-decoration: none; }
as for hover scroll down to a:hover...by default it reads this
a:hover { color: #0ebfe9; border-bottom: 1px dotted #0ebfe9; }
change both #'s to the new color you want.
May 25, 2017 at 10:47 pm in reply to: Dead Simple Help – Changing my Hyperlink color and style in Minimum Pro Theme #206991tarmadilloParticipantHave you tried clearing your browser cache? If making changes does absolutely nothing that's usually the reason. If you are working on a live site you may need to clear server cache as well. Without a link to your site though it's hard to say.
You can also make sure visitors get the newest css file by changing the version number at the top of the style.css and clearing server cache
/*! Theme Name: Theme URI: Description: Author: Author URI: Version: 1.0.0 (change me) */
tarmadilloParticipantIt looks like you added it to the site header instead of site-title. I think this is close to what you are looking for:
.header-image .site-title > a { background-position: center !important; background-size: contain !important; float: left; min-height: 300px; width: 100%; background: url(http://wipsite.jsbmac.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/garlicana_header.png) no-repeat; }
Added bonus it's becomes a clickable link. It looks good but starts to crop the edges when you get down to mobile but its still readable. be sure to not to add an !important tag to "background".
