I’m trying to add a new widget area above ‘Home Top’ in the News Pro theme that is basically the same as ‘Home Top’ but has a different colored background.

I’ve added in the widget area by duplicating the code for ‘Home Top’ in my functions.php and front-page.php and renaming them ‘Home-Slider’ (I want the slider to be here). I also duplicated the CSS for ‘home-top’ and renamed it ‘home-slider’ – not worrying about the background color for the time being, just trying to get the widgets to show.

The widget area shows in my admin and I can place widgets in it, but is not showing on the homepage. Anyone have any ideas what I might have missed?

    My site is here: http://www.kiersdev.com/bws/

    Thanks.

No need to duplicate the CSS if you use the same div class.

Rather than duplicate the widget in your template file, you can also hook it in from your child themes functions file.
