I've got a new (and odd) one for me... I'm using eleven40 Pro theme, I've made some customization, but not really touched the font settings. This starting happening to me recently, but I can't think of a specific change that would have resulted in it - it is happening on this site and another project that I'm working on that is running a very basic version of Genesis with nothing else.
On most of the pages the navigation menu and the entry content appear very large (as if the font-size: 62.5% was not working), but if I resize the window or open the dev tool bar (which resizes the viewable area), the fonts transition quickly down to the correct size. The header, footer and sidebar text are unaffected. Most users won't take that step, they will see the big text.
It happens 90% of the time, every so often it works fine. Sometimes you can see it flash quickly large, then back to correct size - but if you click on another page in the navigation it will usually stick. I can't figure it out. It's hopefully something simple that I'm overlooking... Why is it doing that and how do I stop it?
It is most notable on Chrome, but it happens on IE as well (it flashes the large size, then transitions quickly to the proper size). I haven't tested other browsers yet.
http://dev.joshuadnelson.com/pe/comity/November 21, 2013 at 8:34 pm #74849JoshuaMemberAlright, well, now the site is working fine (I was on a PC, now on a mac), but the local version that I am working on of the other site - which is a bare-bones genesis site - is still having a similar issue.
November 22, 2013 at 9:25 am #74983Andrea RennickMemberThere's a Chrome bug about this. We don't know if we can do anything on our end yet.

November 22, 2013 at 1:18 pm #75062MealtogMemberI just noticed something similar using iOS device. The Menu items would load as Bolded, then as CSS kicks in, it decreases in weight. I wonder if these are CSS related.
November 22, 2013 at 1:43 pm #75066JoshuaMemberYea, I don't think it's a chrome bug - I was able to get it to replicate yesterday on IE11. Of course, today I can't replicate the issue. I would like it was a css bug if it was consistently happening, and it might still be a css bug, but the font sizing hasn't really been changed much. It uses the 62.5% reset on html, then a px & rem for font size everywhere else, including the elements that don't appear affected.
That said, I can't replicate the issue in IE, but I can in Chrome.

November 22, 2013 at 4:21 pm #75090nutsandboltsMemberThere's a fix for the issue here: http://surefirewebservices.com/development/genesis-framework/genesis-rem-chrome-font-size-bug

November 23, 2013 at 12:56 pm #75260Andrea RennickMemberThat's more of a workaround.
Here's a ticket for Chrome showing the issues exists across platforms, so this isn;t specific to our themes or even wordpress.

February 16, 2014 at 5:00 pm #90662ScottMemberNew Genesis user here. First day on the job 🙂
I've been seeing this happen all day today. Have to refresh the page or open Chrome dev tools to get the text to resize down to proper sizing.
I've never seen this before in any other theme. However, I have had issues with @font-face fonts going to defaults then back to normal (chrome browser only). So, i do agree that's a chrome bug.
So, its my understanding that the fix for this is:
1. Remove the font-size:1.6rem; from the body declaration.
OR
2. Try something like this: body > div { font-size: 1.6rem; }
Anyone have anything to add?
February 17, 2014 at 10:40 am #90807JoshuaMemberScott,
The second option works for me. I kept the body declaration for the font size and placed the body > div declaration directly after it.
I have also started to notice the font-fact issue you mention (in Chrome). I wonder if there is a similar fix?
March 2, 2014 at 1:01 pm #93082ScottMemberI believe the chrome dev team has finally fixed the webfonts FOUC issue it as of the most recent chrome browser update. I have not seen it present for a couple of weeks now.
I'm running Chrome version 33.0.1750.117
