I've created a portfolio page on my Executive theme.
The address bar in the browser says the page's url is 'mydomain.com/portfolio', but I want it to be 'mydomain.com/projecten'.
Can this be done, and how?
Yes, when you go to edit that page, underneath the page name entry field is a permalink. You can edit the permalink there to "projecten." Hope that helps!
You're right if the portfolio page was just an ordinary page like many others. But the portfolio page is a dynamically created page consisting of items in the portfolio section of WordPress.
When you create a portfolio page, there is no physical page called 'portfolio' in the pages section. It's a real-time rendered page.
This leaves the question; how can I change the name of that page?
Well, I've figured this one out myself, and it is really simple.
Change the rewrite in the functions.php to this:
‘rewrite’ => array( ‘slug’ => ‘projecten’ )
And now go to ‘Settings/Permalinks’ in WordPress and save the permalinks.
