    I use the plugin Genesis Simple Edits which allows you to rewrite any HTML in the footer you want. Very handy.

    I have the Genesis Simple Edit plugin also but not much help. My question is where do you rewrite the code or add the shortcode snippets and what do you remove? Where within the code does this happen? I’m just a little confused as to where to add code and what to remove if anything.
    Thanks!

    You have to select the checkbox that reads “Modify Entire Footer Text (including markup)?” and enter any HTML you want. Shortcodes are recognized and a list of Genesis shortcodes can be found here: http://my.studiopress.com/docs/shortcode-reference/

    You can style any divs you enter to have the widths, floats, text-alignment, etc using style.css

    The best way, IMO, is to simply open your functions.php file, and add the following:

    //* Remove the footer.
    remove_action( 'genesis_footer', 'genesis_do_footer' );

    Genesis uses hooks, and that would be the proper way to remove it.

    If you’d like to alter that text, without a plugin (I recommend you only use a plugin when a simpler solution cannot be found), simply add this to your functions.php, and edit the text portion.

    //* Customize the entire footer
    remove_action( 'genesis_footer', 'genesis_do_footer' );
    add_action( 'genesis_footer', 'sp_custom_footer' );
    function sp_custom_footer() {
    	?>
    	<p>Your text here!</p>
    	<?php
    }

    Thanks so much for your answers, both are helpful and worked. I’m gonna stay with the suggestion of not using a plug in.
    Have a great day!
