Yeah that's a stupid question... but then I never thought I'd ever have so many problems trying to do such a simple task as set a header image.
I installed Genesis and the free default theme as my child theme. Activated the child theme.
So the Genesis pdf says
"You can select the option to use either “Dynamic Text,” based on the site title and
description entered in the WordPress general settings page or an “Image Logo,” set
in the Custom Header screen under the Appearance menu as the header for your
site."BUT NOT BOTH???? wow... poor SEO
Unfortunately
1. "Custom Header" menu under Appearance doesn't exist nor does any other header customization. (unless I activate 2012 of course)
2. There's no option to change the header under "Customizer" the new WordPress visual customizer.
3. Changing the style.css (in the child theme) to point to my header file location had no effect.
4. Rewriting the file named logo.png under childtheme/images/logo.png had no effect. So where the hell is it getting the Genesis image from if not the child theme? Duh Genesis.... Why does Genesis even have images? Despite wanting to plaster their dumbass name everywhere on my site.
So the real question is how do I get my money back on this piece of shit framework?

/* Logo, hide text */ .header-image .site-header .wrap { background: url(images/logo.png) no-repeat left; padding: 0; }
This makes adding your own logo super easy. Simply upload your image to your images folder and overwrite the default image named logo using a .png extension.
Yeah that doesn't work.... hence my aggravation
The image is coming from the parent theme not the child theme, which means even if I do overwrite the parent then during the next update it's going to put a Genesis image back in the parent.
Makes the whole point of a "Theme Framework" obsolete.
October 17, 2014 at 1:38 am #128104gcamptonMemberThe problem seems to be the child theme isn't taking precedence, and that Genesis has an unneeded image folder. So is the default child theme broken? I doubt the other themes have this problem.
October 17, 2014 at 1:41 am #128105Brad DaltonParticipantYou need to replace the image in the child themes images folder
Otherwise, you can add it using PHP code.
Can you link to your site please.
Maybe you need to clear server/plugin/browser caching.
October 17, 2014 at 1:48 am #128106gcamptonMemberThe other interesting fact is this image:
Despite saying it "Supports Mobile Responsive Design" isn't actually responsive. In fact half the image is cutoff on mobile as it doesn't resize at all.
October 17, 2014 at 1:56 am #128109gcamptonMemberAlso the PDF must be out of date, it's showing options for SEO. There's no SEO options in this that I can see, just "Settings" and "Backup/Export"
October 17, 2014 at 2:29 am #128111gcamptonMemberwow OK, I'm a doofus.
I had already cleared cookies and cache.
But decided to stick cloudflare in dev mode just in case.
worked. still not responsive though.
October 17, 2014 at 3:22 am #128113Brad DaltonParticipantPlease mark this as resolved and start a new question for the responsive issues.
