How can I put a Login/Logout link into the utility bar that Andrea helped me put onto my site?
My site is http://www.homebrewaudio.com/ and I currently have the word “test” in the area where I would like the login/logout link.
I saw the thread at: http://www.studiopress.com/forums/topic/loginlogout/ where the recommended solution was to use a plugin: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/simplemodal-login/installation/ but I tried it and couldn’t figure out how to use it.
My child theme is Eleven40-Pro. In the old version of Eleven40, there was a code snippet I could just add, and I didn’t need a plugin. I’d rather do it that way, if possible. Thoughts? Advice?
Try this plugin – http://wordpress.org/plugins/baw-login-logout-menu/
I will, Davinder. Thanks!
It still seems odd to me, though, that there is a perfectly good login/logout link in the “Meta” widget, which contains multiple functions – Login, RSS, and WordPress.org links. Shouldn’t there be a widget with JUST the login/logout link?
Oh well. I’ll try the plugin and see how that works.
Also, it is a single function : http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wp_loginout , so replace “test” with a call to that instead.
Thanks guys. I installed the baw plugin. I tried to create a new menu and put the login/out item into it as per the instructions. But nothing showed up in the bar. However, I was able to get it to work by putting the shortcode into a text widget in the utility bar right.
Davinder, is there a trick to getting the link to work within a WordPress menu?
