I’m trying to customize an index which is essentially a master category archive. I think this is similar so I wasn’t sure if I should put it in this thread or not.
I know I can add custom fields as is described in this tutorial http://my.studiopress.com/tutorials/category-blog-page/, but I’m wanting to adjust it a bit more than this. I’d like to list all posts organized by category name (so there would need to be something like
Category Name
added in above the posts in that category. I’d also like to just show the post title as a link. I want the posts in each category to be alphabetized.
I’m thinking I could use the wp_list_categories template tag found here http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Tags/wp_list_categories to do some of this, but I’m not sure how to create a custom category template within a child theme or if that is even possible. I’d suppose I can create a custom template within the child theme, but I need some basic steps on that.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
