Can anyone recommend plugins for three things on this page? (scroll to end of article) http://www.thebolditalic.com/articles/4228-breaking-it-down-the-google-bus
1. You May Also Like
2. Share This
3. (bottom right corner) What's Next? Thanks in advance!
http://askthedentist.comJanuary 7, 2014 at 1:49 pm #83862AnitaKeymasterFor my clients, I've been adding Nick's custom code for the "You May Also Like" which eliminates a plugin. If you want a plugin, the other alternative I use is the nRelate Related Content Plugin as well as their nRelated Flyout plugin which is related content that flies out of the bottom right corner after scrolling down the page so far. And lastly, I used the Share button in the Jetpack plugin for sharing purposes.

January 8, 2014 at 10:18 am #84003SummerMemberAnita, have you had any issues with nRelate's method of doing data crunching on their servers?
I had looked at their plugins a year ago, but was put off by the fact that they're offloading my website data onto their servers to store/analyze it and send back what they think are "related" posts, and the fact that a lot of people were complaining how the results were increasingly not relevant, and sometimes were failing due to server connectivity issues. Just curious what your experience with it has been.
Some of the Themedy child themes I use come with a related posts option, and for related posts on sites not using Themedy child themes, I've been using Related Posts Thumbnails, but the author hasn't updated that since 2011, and I'm a little concerned it's been abandoned.
So next on my list to try is a new one, Related Posts by Taxonomy, so we'll see how that one works out.

But like I mentioned, I started adding Nick's code to my clients' sites because I didn't want to be dependent on too many plugins. But I know the other plugins give you options and variables you can play with that make the use of a plugin more attractive.

January 8, 2014 at 11:00 am #84015SummerMemberThe WP.org support forums for all three nRelate plugins are full of complaints about service interruptions and service failures, as well as their own support forums.
The high number of complaints in their own WP plugin forums was what decided me against even trying them out 6-8 months ago, and it looks like those complaints have not subsided over that time period... which was why I asked what your personal expierience was. I would also guess you going with Nick's custom code more often might also be a sign 🙂
