Hello. I own a small design studio. Although I typically use Freeway Pro for my websites and I'm in the process of using the Genesis framework my own company. Being new to the WordPress platform, one thing that I've noticed is that all of the Genesis child themes from StudioPress seem pretty bare-boned. Was that done on purpose?
How would one add something like a design portfolio (that sorts by type of work), a Google map, or even a form? Do you rely on plug-ins for that and if so, which ones are the best for these three types of content?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Google Map can be embedded directly via manual code
For Form you can use contact form 7 plugin or ninja forms plugin or gravity forms plugin.

I was planning on purchasing Genesis Extender to help with template customization and then move to Dynamik once I get a little more proficient with WP.
I do have one question though. I'm familiar with the files Freeway Pro generates, but I don't know much about WordPress file structure. Do you know of any good articles that explain WP file structure?
January 25, 2015 at 1:48 pm #138603RavenManiacParticipantTo followup my previous question:
In other words, for shared hosting on a GoDaddy server, all client files go into a client specific folder within the public_html folder, something like this:
public_html > client_a.com
public_html > client_b.com
public_html > client_c.com
public_html > client_d.comBut where do the WordPress files go and are some of them duplicated in each client folder?
January 25, 2015 at 6:58 pm #138621coralseaitMemberI would HIGHLY recommend you do not follow that structure for Shared Hosting of multiple clients. You expose yourself to hack / security issues if one site is compromised and they can break out into the file system. You'll also be sharing email storage and file storage for just that single shared hosting account. If you ever need SSL you'll have IP to domain mapping issues.
It is better to go reseller account and/or individual hosting accounts per client ... or get a VPS and manage yourself.
Tbh, GoDaddy is a major pain as a hosting partner. For simple shared hosting we like to use Namecheap and for VIP hosting we use RamNode VPSs. If you need additional help with hosting 'frameworks' let us know and maybe we can walk you through it with a bit more detail.
