    I have done a complete Google search on this and there are numerous discussions that WP removed that featured, however – if you resize the box while you are editing a page/post to the size you like – when you save it – it should remain as the default. I see more discussions that this is not really working for most people and they have deemed it a bug.

    To bring the button horizontal with the search box, look for this:

    .search-form input[type="search"] {
        background: url("images/icon-search.png") no-repeat scroll right center / 36px 16px #FFFFFF;
        color: #888888;
        font-size: 1rem;
        margin-bottom: 1rem;
        padding: 1.6rem;
        text-transform: uppercase;
        width: 100%;
    }

    Change 100% to auto. If you want to remove the magnifying glass – remove that background image from the second line.

    Then look for this:

    button, input[type="button"], input[type="reset"], input[type="submit"], .button, .entry-content .button {
        background-color: #006699;
        border: medium none;
        border-radius: 5px;
        box-shadow: none;
        color: #FFFFFF;
        cursor: pointer;
        padding: 1.6rem 2rem;
        width: auto;
    }

    Change the padding from 1.6rem to about 1.3rem.

    You can by device size. There are some other CSS codes floating around for iPhone/iPad specific devices. Just Google them.

    Look for this:

    .sidebar-primary {
        float: right;
        width: 360px;
    }

    Change the width to a lower number that you like.

    Then go here:

    .content {
        float: right;
        width: 740px;
    }

    Change the width to say 780px.

    Play around with these until you get it the way you want it.

    If you want to decrease the white padding, look for this:

    .sidebar .widget {
        background-color: #FFFFFF;
        border-radius: 3px;
        margin-bottom: 4rem;
        padding: 4rem;
    }

    Decrease the padding from 4rem to maybe 2 or 3.

    I use my desktop, laptop, Kindle, Android to test out all of the code as modify the media queries. I do one size, get it right… then move on to another size, get that right. It’s a process.

    Thanks Rob, I appreciate your feedback. I know when I look at very technical tutorials… the “why i need to do this” or moot to me. Just tell me how to do it. :)

    It depends on what you are trying to accomplish with your site. You may feel the font sizes are too big for say a 320 wide mobile device, you may think that the images aren’t large enough or to big for a 768 screen and need to be centered, etc. There’s no exact science because everyone’s sites, logos, images, content are all different. So you have to code it specifically for your website. The SP themes are pre-configured for usage straight out the box. Once you start customizing the code – the pre-configured SP code may or may not work for you.

    Well, no. Those elements that you want to show up in responsive need to be in there and then changed according to the different mobile device sizes. You will need to test the code on different devices so it shows up the way you want it.

    Most of the newer themes have that code in there. I just wrote a little blog about it here. I am no “Brad Dalton” but at least I wrote this little tutorial! LOL!

    Look for this in your style.css sheet –

    .search-form input[type="submit"] {
    	border: 0;
    	clip: rect(0, 0, 0, 0);
    	height: 1px;
    	margin: -1px;
    	padding: 0;
    	position: absolute;
    	width: 1px;
    }

    Delete all of that or just block it out and the button will return. You can then customize it to your liking.
